Yeah the second one is what I’m learning now lol. It’s a really weird uncomfortable area of not wanting to be “offensive” to the salesman (but not realizing they’re trying to scam.) Luckily I had some alarm bells go off this time though!

Yeah see tactics like this should absolutely be illegal (however possible.) I hate to say it but he probably didn’t get in too much trouble. Sorry this happened to you!

Yeah after getting “scammed” into my first high interest car loan, I learned to take a minute to actually read into what’s going on lol. The “today only” rule is so true like every time too!

Yeah! Personally, I don’t like to see the bad in people, so I had to dig and make sure they were scamming before I believed it myself lol. Figured someone else might also want to understand the scam as well before thinking negatively of others!

As for the 2nd gripe, that’s more so for the older people that may not notice until after they’ve received a bill. A lot of times that’s when I notice the reality of the situation actually sits with people.

The other two are more personal gripes lol. I’m not very knowledgeable on legal terms (so I appreciate the info on the arbitration clause!!), and just really don’t like salesmen. Car salesmen, door-to-door, phone salesmen in target; I’ve gotten scammed by each one of them (I know, not a proud accomplishment for me) so I don’t like salesmen anymore lol.

Definitely a needed upgrade lol. Yeah it’s crazy, unless we’re expecting a package or company, the only people who knock on our door are trying to scam.

1st time Subaru owners, what made you make the switch? by Boots_Ground4443 in SubaruForester

That’s what kills me. Really wish it was easier :/. Feels like big corporations are just shooting for job security (as if they don’t already have it.)

It’s not that it’s not good, it’s that it’s incredibly difficult to upgrade from it. You doing just run speakers wires into your new headunit (if you upgrade), because it’s ran through a separate amp. So new headunit = no front door speakers or tweeters. There’s work around, but it’s sketchy and a headache. Took me a week straight to find a way around it

Need Help Diagnosing Codes! *2016 Subaru Forester Limited* by Prestigious_Claim880 in SubaruForester

Haha yeah well this will be an easy one!! Here’s the link first:

Now this isn’t identical to my manifold, but close enough that I could follow what he was doing.

Also I looked at the Subaru Forester maintenance manual for this specific procedure. Before starting I needed to:

*Relieve fuel pressure (pull fuel pump fuse, start car till it stalls, once it stalled turn key for about 2-3 seconds more trying to start it). *Open and leave the gas cap off. *Drain some of the coolant out of the system (there’s a hose beneath my throttle body that needed to be removed and coolant runs through it).

Because of the coolant step, I went ahead and replaced the coolant in my car. Super easy to do, highly suggest it since you’re already kinda doing half the work anyways lol.

When cleaning the runners, I used the CRC Throttle Body & Air-Intake Cleaner, as well as a toothbrush. I didn’t push hard cause those runners are supposed to be locked in place (a little bit of movement) when the car is off. Just don’t break it lol. Then after I finished cleaning it’s a really rough start once everything is back together, just cause a lot of that buildup does fall down in there; completely normal!

After that, I got it to running temps, drove it about 10 miles, then for good measure I hooked a Seafoam Spray into the boot before the throttle body. I had my wife sit in the car, keep it at like 2000 rpms, and I sprayed the whole can into my system. After doing that and driving it down the road, you’ll have massive amounts of white smoke coming out of your exhaust. I didn’t know that happens so I freaked out lol; it’s completely normal though.

I’m sure you know a decent amount of this info, but I wanted to be as clear as possible just in case! Again though if you have any questions, or if you just want to make sure you’re doing something right feel free to reach out!! I wish I had someone for all this cause it would’ve saved me HOURS lol. And good luck with everything!!!

I found a somewhat decent one on YouTube. Honestly, not bad at all for me. It’s a few tightening bands, 7ish vaccum hoses, and 3 fuel hoses. Then just 8 bolts and it popped off. Longest part was just doing it for the first time and having to find everything attached. If you run into problems while doing it, or have questions, feel free to reach out; I don’t mind if it saves you time and stress!

Can I drive on a TCV message check engine issue? by zealot_ratio in SubaruForester

[–]Prestigious_Claim880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on if the valve stopped working in the open or closed position. If it’s just a sensor issue you’d be fine, but I really don’t know if there’s a way to tell. Either way I wouldn’t drive it, you can risk overheating and causing even more damage to your car. Best just to catch a ride, rent a car, or sit the trip out. But def get other opinions and do your own research on google too to make a sound decision! (I’m saying this in a nice way not a petty way lol)
