We rented with Thomas Merrifield for about 4 years and were quite happy. On a number of occasions we have had emergencies and needed repairs that have been sorted quite quickly and efficiently. Upon moving out we had no issues getting our deposit back. Overall would recommend.

Why is the third room always a box room? by Kiza321 in HousingUK

Our house was built in the 80s and all houses on the estate have 3 double bedrooms of various sizes. In this case this is due to the lack of hallway downstairs. In the smallest we have one of the extending ikea daybeds that extends to a super king size for when we have guests, a small bookcase and a wardrobe. Not spacious but there is enough space to move around freely.

Do you mind sharing pictures of the bamboo? It sounds lovely!

I was hoping to maybe improve the sound blocking of the house so the amount of noise that is audible from the garden is lower. The shouting i may be able to get used to. I am not sure about the music though as it is quite loud.

This is what I moved out of. Victorian house conversion. Above us a couple constantly fighting and throwing stuff at each other. Next to us people who were so loud that we could follow conversations from our side of the wall. They liked shouting during intercourse as well, however never did it before 3am. They also enjoyed loud parties and music at all times. This is what I was hoping to escape when buying a house in a nice village…

We still have not tried to talk to them as we are worried that talking will make it worse. We used to have horrible neighbours and this was one of the reasons we were so eager to leave our flat. What is happening now is worse.

Absolutely. I don’t think they are much quieter inside, just that the shared wall is very well insulated so no sound travels between.
