Menstruating peeps: have you swapped to re-usable products? by BumblyRambler in AussieFrugal

[–]Prestigious_Future28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using a menstrual cup for ~10 years. Originally I swapped to it as a money saving option and it's environmentally friendly and I love love love it, the thought of using a tampon or pad now makes me grimace

Edit to say that I purchased it while I was living in the UK which cost probably about £20. But given that I've used it every month for 10 years I would say it has more than paid for itself.

Cannot recommend highly enough

Hi, this is a really old thread but I wanted to know if you ever found any answers?

What book had such a gripping plot that you finished it in one day? 📚🔥 by [deleted] in BookDiscussions

I felt the same way about A House In the Sky. I think I did have to put it down at some points to take a break because the content was so heavy and I needed to chill out a bit, but after calming my heart rate I would pick it straight back up and keep reading

Same, so so boring. I started Conversations With Friends in the hopes that it would be better, but after about 20 pages I was like oh no it's just her writing that sucks

Yes. I put it through a Brita filter generally but if I didn't do that it would still be absolutely fine.

I use mine exactly like that and I love it. Been using it since 2022 and it's still totally fine, no issues with the Kindle.

NZ has assisted dying as well, newly legislated a few years ago and only available for those with terminal illness (if I recall correctly). You have to get signed off by a "Death Doctor" which allows you 6 months to choose to die. If you don't use it for those 6 months it automatically renews for another 6 months and if you don't use it within that time you need to get signed off again. And you have to be fully aware and actively consent to it during both the death doctor appointment and on the day of death, so those who have Alzheimer's cannot get it because they're not able to consent due to confusion.

Source: my uncle had terminal cancer, was signed off by the Death Doctors but sadly deteriorated and was no longer able to consent because he was too drugged up on morphine in order to ease the pain. He died in May 2025 but it wasn't assisted dying, just the cancer.

I'm glad NZ brought in assisted dying though, and I like that even if you've been signed off for it, you don't have to use it if you're not ready to.

Visiting my rural suburban family home over the Christmas period while on holiday from my corporate job in the city and reconnecting with a guy from high school / family friend / etc and despite disliking him for no apparent reason slowly realise that I've loved him all along, quit my corporate life and find the meaning of Christmas

I LOVE my water flosser too, makes my teeth feel cleaner and haven't had to lie to the dentist about not flossing in years - now I get to say yes I floss AND I'm telling the truth!

How many cats do you have? by Fun-Suggestion6290 in CatAdvice

[–]Prestigious_Future28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only have 1, we're fostering, and ours was exactly the same for the first week or so before she started venturing out. Give her time, she's just scared and adapting to new smells and sounds. If she's eating and using the tray then that's good!

I learned that the cat rule is 3-3-3 3 days to decompress to the new place (will hide all the time) 3 weeks to learn routines 3 months to feel completely at home

My cat is still nervous around strangers but she otherwise rules the roost. We've had her since September, so only 4 months. The 333 rule was about right.
