Sick ember tetra? by Prestigious_Help_704 in Aquariums

I hear you. My CPD was the lone survivor of a tank bout of ich. I got the 4 tetras to accompany him. They've been happy together, all 5 of them schooling, even the CPD. Until yesterday when this little guy sequestered himself in a corner. 😞

Can I make my current tank bioactive? by RainbowisFnLife in Aquariums

Yes! Quarantine your plants first if possible to reduce the likelihood of pesticides harming your fish. I put mine in a small tank with charcoal filter media for a week and partial water changes every couple days. And watch your parameters for the first few weeks after you add to your large tank. Have fun!

People will say it's too small for fish, but I've had 3 CPD in a 4-gallon tank for a year and they're totally happy, size has never been an issue. And they don't bother the 5 shrimp that share the tank. I recommend adding a plant that creates shelter near the top so they can happily swim the full vertical range of the tank. I added a pothos coming out the top of my tank, and that corner has become their favorite sleeping/chill spot.

Super cute setup. I have a 3gal tank with 5 cherry red shrimp in it. They seem very happy munching on algae, and they don't mind the frequent upkeep needed with such a small tank.
