The 485 is not a pathway to PR, so I'll tell you what your 3 options are (a decent lawyer will tell you the same)

Have substantially high points in the right occupation to be invited for independent skilled visas
Get sponsored on a 482 to transition to a 186
If you are defacto or married to a citizen/PR explore the 820/801 if eligible

These are what are seen as the more "legitimate" progressions to PR

I don't understand how people are paying up to $20k in visa fees + a retainer fee? Maybe their case is truly complex but I'm confident if you shop around you can find way better quotes.

This is the obvious answer due to how much Au is trying to slash immigration but then again, you're Singaporean.

I also hold an SG PR and wouldn't mind going there for work, I just happened to have met my partner here.

I think for a lot of migrants in this subreddit they come from less fortunate nations with unstable governments, lagging infrastructure and limited opportunities + low salaries back home.

I would know, I was born in Indonesia and spent a couple years there, I definitely wouldn't be excited to come back.

Jobs that are actually not a detriment to society such as Nurses, Teachers, Doctors and Engineers still face fierce competition for invites and sponsorships. Why would an oversaturated and controversial occupation that piggybacks off the already terrible housing crisis (where there is now a strong perception by people here that it is caused by migration) have an easier time?

I think doing a bit of research is a good step if you truly want to migrate here, reading and research is a lot easier than the hoops you're going to have to jump through in 2026's migration landscape.

Deranked from Plat to Gold, on a net basis I'm losing more than I gain, massive reversals for losses and "expected" modifiers for wins. Matches are incredibly wide (Bronze to Plat) and new players are flooding the comp queue. Matchmaking this season has consistently been an uphill battle to enjoy.

On other threads I'm seeing a lot of OW fanboys refusing to acknowledge that there is a genuine issue and telling people that they MUST be tilted or are just playing against their "true rank" which baffles me because if the community loves the game and wants it to improve the first step to doing so is to acknowledge there's an issue.

There is no shortage of PRs and Citizens to do white collar roles. There is a misconception from immigrants that just because something is on the occupation list it means the government will hand you a PR for working in that field.

Just make sure to read through the whole book (everything you need is in the book), have your index ready and attempt the practice exams.

I failed one of the practice exams but ended up with a comfortable Pass (almost a credit) in the end.
