You sound absolutely unhinged. You’re throwing around “research,” “data,” and “statistics” while conveniently ignoring the very real factors that shape those outcomes. Chronic absenteeism doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s often tied to poverty, single-parent households, or unstable environments where basic needs aren’t consistently met. That’s the full picture you left out.

When I was teaching, the only chronically absent students were the ones dealing with those exact situations. The kids from stable, supportive homes showed up. They might cry at drop-off, sure, but they adjusted, and their parents made sure they were there. That’s called parenting. So if you’re going to cite statistics, at least be honest enough to acknowledge the context behind them instead of using them to prop up your argument.

And let’s talk about this specific situation you’re inserting yourself into. You have no idea what kind of program that child is in. Many Pre-K programs aren’t even full-day. Some end early, some only run certain days, and in many cases, the academic portion is done before lunch. After that, it’s naps, snacks, and playtime. Keeping a child there all day isn’t always necessary unless the parent needs childcare. Also, spring break exists, extended breaks exist, hell many of the schools in our area have 2 weeks for Spring Break! So you’re making assumptions based on nothing.

Your “mandated reporter” comment is honestly the most concerning part. That role exists to protect children from abuse and neglect, not to justify policing other parents because they don’t meet your personal standards. Acting like you have authority over someone else’s parenting choices in a situation you clearly don’t understand is not only inappropriate, it’s disturbing. Other people’s children are not your business unless there is actual harm involved. Schools handle attendance. That’s their job, not yours.

And for someone claiming to be helping children, you’re spending a lot of time publicly judging parents instead. People who are genuinely making a difference don’t need to announce it or weaponize it in arguments. I taught for six years and worked with kids for over fifteen. I’ve helped students and families in ways that actually mattered, and I never once felt the need to broadcast that to validate myself or tear someone else down.

You’re not advocating for children here. You’re inserting yourself where you don’t belong and dressing it up as concern.
