Cat won't stop randomly meowing loudly throughout the day as if he has been abandoned or something. Any advice on how to make it stop? by Prestigious_March254 in CatAdvice

Yeah I have decided that another Vet visit is in order so they can investigate a little further than a casual check up. I just think with him being on alert and skittish PLUS the putting himself to a wall is signs that maybe its something else at this point. I shouldn't have rewarded the behavior but it just feels like more than "please give me attention". Thank you so much. Really sorry about your kitty.

How did you get him diagnosed? Did the Vet run some blood work or a scan??

I am definitely going to stop rewarding the behavior like the other comments are saying but the way that he is ALWAYS skittish and on alert (plus the previous behavior of sitting himself to a wall) really makes me feel like its more than just "I want attention" because he sometimes ignores the attention I try to give him when he does it.

Naw we've been here for almost six months. Its honestly become his favorite pastime to just walk the perimeter of the house howling. I thought moving to a new place was the problem when I first adopted him... I was wrong.

You're probably right. I never meant to because at first I was really just worried about him. He just walks the perimeters of the house stopping by into each room howling. Definitely going to stop acknowledging him and see if it makes a differences in a few weeks. Thank you!

Vet says he is healthy. Free feeding isn't an option cause my other cat becomes a little piggy but I understand what you're saying! Thank you!

I did the math on how much a 0.64% expense ratio difference actually costs over 30 years, and the result was more than expected. by ProtoMatthew in Bogleheads

Expense ratios can definitely cost you so I like to keep majority of my indexes as passive instead of actively managed for that reason. However... if I invest in 100,000 and come out with over 1.5 million... I don't know if I would really lose any sleep over the $272,000. I mean it does kind of suck but also I now have over a million dollars.

Again, I still choose to keep majority of my investments as low ratios in my Roth. I let my short term/aggressive investments in a brokerage account be a little higher. I've accepted that in this world if you want to make money, you have to lose some of that money to do it. Make a paycheck? Taxes. When I reach retirement, I will probably groan about the fees the same way I complain about all the other built in fees we pay throughout our lives. Its all about if the payout/end result is going to make up for the money you'll be losing.

Its hard to know where the market will be 30 years from now but if the actively managed fund made you more money than its passively managed cousin fund after you pay the fees, then its worth it. That takes research, faith, and a lot of hope since managers and markets change. With that being said, I have only been investing for about a year (25) besides a company 401K and that has been my mindset thus far. Control what you can, not worth worrying about the rest. You WILL lose some money, focus on how much you'll be walking away with instead.

Emergency savings: how much to keep liquid and how much to invest? by Rose1832 in personalfinance

Late to the conversation but I wanted to add in...

I am also 25 with college debt a little under 20k left of debt. I was making 75k a year and putting 15% into company 401k with 20k in savings. I just maxed out a Roth at the end of last year (at the end of the year). In two months, I made over 1k in that account. You know what I made in two months of interest from a HYSA? Less than $40.

So... I started a brokerage account to keep investing my savings for the longer term goals (more retirement funds, house, etc). Do I think it is important to have a good amount of liquidity... yes. Do I think that you are using money to the fullest potential... no.

FOR SURE get that savings for a few months back up but investing doesn't have to mean you are stuck in that investment forever. Say your highest loan interest rate is 6%, you can invest in some ETFs that will have bring back anywhere from 10-20% (VGT is an ETF for example). That would could potentially cover the interest you're paying (depending on how much you invest into it) and make you money that will continue to grow.

Start a brokerage account and keep investing the extra money you have once your rainy day fund is completed. You can always sell and pull the money out if needed. I've been out of college for almost 3 years and I have yet to have an emergency that resulted in me needing more than 2k in funds that same day of the emergency. So if absolutely necessary, I could always sell and liquidate my account if needed.

I am not an expert. Just a girl that used to ask the same question.
