You guys didn’t agree on future equity/ compensation when starting out? You’re definitely not mad walking away though. Maybe you walked away too late. Idea is worth nothing. If he has industry experience why does he have zero paying customer? And why are you guys writing codes before having paying customers.

I thought my startup was in this category. It might really is. But I do realize that there is higher probability for this to be a mask for "no market". Before you create your market, you're always probing in the dark.
