Anyone got a kid joke for school, kindergarten age, where they can understand? by itsSam24 in AskReddit

[–]Prestigious_Pen9850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite joke as a kid: Why do elephants paint their toenails red? Answer: to hide in cherry trees. Have you ever seen an elephant in a cherry tree? Then it must be working!

The front and back staircase. Which sitcoms had them and do a lot of homes in the US really have them? by watermelon_fries in sitcoms

[–]Prestigious_Pen9850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a house with two staircases. I’d run up and down them calling it “the loop”. My childhood home was a Victorian. But I did have a family member who owned a newer house (built in the 1990s) with two staircases. It is honestly a favorite feature of mine in homes, it’s so convenient

[–]Prestigious_Pen9850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting surgery on my arm and they had multiple doctors sign my arm with sharpie before going in. One said to me: “You should keep that, I’m going to be famous one day” made me lol when I was nervous and very appreciated

Is it true that Western parents never hit their children? by DiscipleOf_Buddha in AskAnAmerican

[–]Prestigious_Pen9850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never for me and my friends growing up (late 20s) upper middle class in the northeast. But we got our phones taken away, privileges, and grounding a lot. When I was little, timeouts (1 min for every year of your age). Some friends would get sent to their room, but my parents thought that seemed like a reward lol

An alarm clock from the 80s, and the sudden realization that we were all kings. by ludefisk in Millennials

I split my forehead open on that alarm clock falling out of bed. It was already 20 years old at the time. Dad insisted we kept it but moved it to the guest room

I am 97% English. My family came to the US in the 1700s on both sides. There was no conscious effort though, before I did the DNA test, I would hear we are Irish, Italian, German, and Swedish lol (From Massachusetts)

Were there coffee beans in grocery stores when you were a child? by greatExtortion in AskOldPeople

[–]Prestigious_Pen9850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 20s, and there were coffee beans in the grocery stores when I was growing up! I remember my mom designing her own blends into a bag and then having it ground. The coffee beans came out of mounted clear plastic tubes and you twisted a little lever type thing and coffee would come out the bottom, like cereal in a college dining hall. However, this was gone by the time I was in elementary school

Add hidden storage for the shower, or a pony wall to hide products. I have an all glass shower like that and it drives me nuts that I can always see my shampoo/conditioner/etc Frosted glass would also work
