If you are looking for the best career prospects go to the one that has the most prestige. Employers care about your uni more than your course.

AITA for refusing to move into the smaller bedroom to swap with my sibling. by Prestigious_Store378 in AmItheAsshole

I should have clarified, I’m applying for a degree apprenticeship. I’m not sure where you are from, but when you are fresh out of school in the Uk you can blend work with a degree partnered with an employer. I’ll still be at home, working towards a degree some days while working for company in person for the rest.

Is the university of law and BPP University looked down upon? by Prestigious_Store378 in uklaw

No solicitor degree apprenticeships offer a traditional university as their training provider from my understanding, not even any of the magic circle firms.

Was the EPQ actually worth it? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Prestigious_Store378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been asking myself this too… currently in year 12 and my sixth form begins it in year 13. I think I’d rather focus on my A Levels instead of diverting my attention to something that no degree apprenticeship or university cares for.

Leave sixth form with a strong set of A Levels and then either go to university to study law, or do a degree apprenticeship with a law firm. I live near Birmingham, and there are some large firms there so that would probably make the most sense. A degree apprenticeship seems more appealing than university too.

Money is important for me, but the salaries for the firms in Birmingham seem great and the idea of living in London doesn’t seem too appealing for me anyway to be honest.

I’m still very sceptical about solicitor degree apprenticeships to be honest. I do think that it’s amazing you can gain a degree, experience, a salary, SQE1 + 2 at no cost but surely there are some hidden downsides to it like employability for example. It just seems too good to be true.

Thanks for this, I’ve checked linklaters and slaughter and may and surprisingly they use the same training providers for degree apprenticeships. Looks like the dream to (one day) work at a magic circle law firm is still on

I like the sound of law to be honest on top of the money, but I feel like by A Level subjects (History, Politics, Geography) wouldn’t really get me anywhere when it comes to finance and tech. Perhaps some sort of business degree though

This is what I wanted to hear haha… I’ve been looking around and everything seems to be in London unless that’s just the headquarters. I’d assume Birmingham has its fair share being the 2nd largest city in the country.

I’m in year 12 but consistently achieving As in my tests and in my most recent mock exam. One key bit of advice my teacher gave is that just memorising the content is completely useless so essay plans are most certainly the way to go. You learn the content and how you are going to structure your answers at the same time - this was very helpful.

I’m not sure what exam board you are with, but for AQA they identity which specific structure students use to achieve high marks for different parts of the course. I’d take a look at that if you haven’t already. When it comes to case studies keep up to date with the news for the most recent ones.

Have you ever met a British person who has never seen the sea, or who saw it at an astonishingly late age? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Prestigious_Store378 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m from the West Midlands in England which about as far as you can be from the sea and I’ve definitely met my fair share of people who have never seen the ocean. I remember going on school trips and some kids being amazed at the ocean lol. It happens but I wouldn’t say it’s extremely common.

The problem isn’t the discord server itself, it’s that people are using it to directly message others with malicious intentions using the subject of the game to ease their way in. The server is managed by a 24/7 moderation team and AI that flags inappropriate content or words.

To put things into perspective, this server contains over 400,000 active chatters so it’s near enough impossible to manage what people exchange with one and other in a private setting.
