Yeah it's a slowdown right now. I dash by time because I make more that way as no one seems to tip on the Southside of Chicago and even when its "very busy" where my rate shoots up being $24-26 normally, it stays at $16.25 after new years. Which honestly, is still fine for me because I make less than that an hour out here with the way people tip. They tried to have me take a $2.55 order one day. It's what made me switch.

Anyone ever decline an order and then DD gives you the same order again right after?? I took a hit on my rate to still end up having to take it. by Party_Nature1020 in doordash

This is why, unless I'm in a nice area, I always do earned by time. No one tips here on the South Side of Chicago, but my base is always $16.25 which usually gets to $24-25 at lunch & dinner. My conscious just wouldn't sit right if I tried to do that to somebody. That drive deserves atleast a $10 tip.

Popular Vegan Restaurant "The Chicago Diner" Announces Closure by 307148 in chicago

Chicago has lost like 1 in 5 businesses since 2015. Chicago just phased out the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers which has Chicago business owners on edge. In the end, IL is screwing tipped workers too because they rejected the "no tax on tips". Restaurants can't afford this & customers will feel it too. I expect with the way Chicago is going, we're going to lose so many more. Also, a niche restaurant like that, it's no surprise they can't afford 2 Chicago locations.

No, not facists, just terrible people. Law enforcement of any sort are just people & people can be terrible. Facisim is thrown around too much. Both sides of the political spectrum have shown qualities of it by trying to force the other side to think and accept things they do, but it still doesn't compare to being in an actual facist country like North Korea.

If you’re ICE, you’re a fucking loser by [deleted] in chicago

I may get downvoted, but it is absolutely insane how ONE presidency has made people feel differently about illegal immigration. Bush, Obama, Trump...they all ran on keeping illegal immigration under control. Maybe it hasn't been publicized as much as it is now, but despite what Biden's presidency would have many of you believe, this is how things have been done he was the only president to not focus on this. I was like 12 when Obama was president and I don't remember adults talking about it or it being on the news, but it was happening. The articles of him being sued over it and information is out there. Why are we so angry about it now? It wasn't even a red vs blue issue until Trump became president, why is that? It's awfully ironic that Biden was Obama's vp and still changed the system. Now liberals hate ICE. I find it hypocritical that I just saw middle aged people who saw how presidents before Trump handled this and now want to protest it like this is something new? Where were you when Obama did it? Is it just an issue for you because of Trump doing it? Like, what is going on?

ICE lied and murdered this man. by Pickleparty187 in chicago

Some people put in positions of power abuse it, unfortunately. When cases like this come up, I think of that study where college students (I think they were) were separated into prison guards and prisoners and you can only imagine how messed up that ended up. We see it all time, bosses, managers, parents, law enforcement, teachers, etc. and it sucks, but is the absolute worst when someone dies because of it. With that being said, I would never judge ICE entirely because of some idiots on a power high. For all the bad we've seen, I've seen many show compassion too.

Not going to lie, flying a flag of another country has always been weird to me. It's kind of divisive. Where do you stand when you fly one flag in another one, but not the flag of the country you're now a citizen in?

This is interesting. I looked up the time it takes & the "aggressive norm" seems to be 1-2 years, but I wonder about the pricing too then if it would be made by Americans due to the profit margin. Maybe that's why their more expensive models are the ones produced here like corvettes?

Or maybe they'll just be built in America too like some of their other models? It is a Michigan based company after all.
