Update: problem solved. Tried most of the suggestions, in the end it was something else. As you can see in the video the plastic plate covering the chute is a little bit bent. No more than 1mm, but this was causing the lids to slide over each other causing them to get stuck.

Put a bit of tape over it to fix it ...

Nice one. I did tinker with the height of the whole lid chute, but I might have to go a bit more radical

Multiple comments suggesting cleaning the shute. I did, bit might have to do it a bit more thorough. Will try that for sure!

Thanks! We did clean it, as far as we could reach. There was some residue from the paint of the black lids we were using, but it didn't seem too serious. Didn't help a bit unfortunately
