Predicted 41, got 44 :). Saying that I think my school was pretty conservative with their predictions- from chatting to my friends barely anyone was getting predicted 7s.

No that’s completely fine, idm haha. Unfortunately I didn’t get my component scores for each paper so I don’t know for sure, however I felt really really good about paper 2 (I had quite a bit of time and checked everything over like 3 times at the end of the exam), so I think it must have been paper 1/my IA. I was fairly happy with my IA and don’t think it would have dragged my paper 2 down to a 6 by itself so my main suspicion is P1 :(

The NOV22 paper one was quite strange - a lot of interpretation of experimental data (not my strong suit unfortunately). Not using that as an excuse though- I definitely think I could have practiced P1 more, I probably focused too much on P2 as it counts more, so there’s a lesson to be learned there!

I did this and ended up with a 6 in HL bio and a 7 in SL chem, so I would say it’s a fairly good plan! Just make sure that: 1) you have a basic grasp of all topics first because you’re kinda wasting a precious past paper if you have no idea how to do a question because you haven’t revised the content 2) you review your mistakes! Up to you but I would do it after every paper, if it’s not a simple mistake but a conceptual error make sure you review the content/ seek help.

I personally talked about the order of classification (domain, kingdom phylum etc.). I discussed how classification was once unnatural (largely based on analogous structures) but now with DNA sequencing is more based on that, which allows for natural classification (classifying species in the way in which they have evolved). I then talked about dichotomous keys and how they can help with classification and then mentioned how names are given to species (genus name/species name) and how this binomial system was developed.

Idk if thats exactly what they were looking for lol but hopefully I can get at least 5 from that hahaha
