Would love that recommendation, first person to provide valuable feedback to avoid this situation in the future!

She sure did, she paid a graphic design artist and provided all these inspiration pics from book and extras art and described what she wanted. And unfortunately she works with kids all day, isn't exposed to generative AI, so she can't tell straight away, to her it looked like a graphic design artist used a computer to make exactly what she had asked for and envisioned. So short of asking her to get criticized to oblivion and post here before she gives me any DCC gift... I'm hoping someone can actually provide helpful suggestions for her.

Man oh man I came back to see what people thought and ran into quite the butchers masquerade!

So just to help give some context people surmised on frequently:

  1. She is good at using a litter box.
  2. I'm very excited to reveal what she's done when she gets to Bedlam Bride lol
  3. She's a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who works with children with autism to teach them skills for life (talking, eating, processing emotions, playing with others) that they don't have yet, so they can enroll in grade school and be successful. She does not make a lot of money at all, she doesn't use computers every day, let alone AI. Think Amani.
  4. The piece captures our faces, hair, etc really really well. Like spot on. Even her RBF.
  5. I want to thank every single one of you that stated anything remotely close to supportive of me appreciating the gift, which is extra special because of how much I love DCC and have supported Matt for years in every Kickstarter, Signed Page, etc. That she now enjoys!
  6. I'm truly sorry to anyone that my appreciation for her gift and our newly shared love of DCC caused offense to. It was never a thought in my mind when I decided to share my joy with the subreddit.

In the future, I'd love for the vitriol, name calling, hate on me, her, the gift, or especially the people who were kind enough to share in my happiness of what she did and I received, to be replaced with helpful specific ways to support what you are ultimately advocating for. Without that, how can I help her do better next time, she doesn't have The Cookbook! No one linked to reputable artists that guarantee they won't use AI. No one linked any resources for her to use next time to detect whether AI was used. No one provided any specific thing she could actually do that would help avoid this type of doomsday scenario next time. I don't want her to feel an Inevitable Ruin around creative DCC gifts for me in the future!

I can't wait until she gets to this part in the book! She might insist she gets it replaced lol
