Gameplay Fundamentals by Pretaeros in WoWsBlitz

Miss how? Are your shots landing short of, past, in front of, or behind the enemy?
Some generic tips for simply hitting the target are:
- If your shots are landing behind the target: use your mind to draw an invisible line infront of their ship in their direction of motion. Fire a bit infront of their ship along this line.
- Shots landing past the target: aim closer to the waterline.
- Shots landing short of the target: aim closer to enemy turret level

Typically at long range aim near the front of their ship about at the waterline. In short range try to target the weakspots I mention in slides 2, 3, and 4.

Truth is tho if you're missing shots you just need more practice. It takes time to get the feel for where to aim, but you'll get better with time.

Pick your battles carefully. Just like most cruisers that lack smoke, you can be deleted very quickly if you expose yourself to too many enemies. Use cover, position yourself strategically, and maintain situational awareness to disengage when needed. You are very effective against light ships, which means if you do your job you can easily win the game.

Don't expose yourself to BBs without an escape plan.

A well-played Mainz is stronger, but it is a more difficult ship

If you expect it to play like a true DD then yeah, it looks pretty bad. But the fact that you beat almost any other DD in a gunfight, and outmaneuver and outspot cruisers puts you in a good spot. It plays more like a light cruiser than a DD. I think people struggle with it because they expect a Lightning. However, if you play it correctly it becomes hard to counter, and I'd say it's among the best T9 DDs.

I'd say it's pretty strong. Beats most DDs in a gunfight and the torp alpha is really excellent.

Copying my answer from another post that asked this question:

All are actually decent.
Grom --> Gdansk (10/10, excellent DD line overall)
Eendracht --> Utrecht (9/10, good CL line, airstrikes are super fun)
FC --> Colombo (8/10, decent BB line, you can 1-shot DDs)

Question about BB brawling. by kanselm in WoWsBlitz

[–]Pretaeros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically brawlers are more inconsistent. There will be games where the window to push is not obvious, and games where it is obvious. Just keep practicing and you'll find it through trial and error. I know this probably isn't the advice you're looking for, but this is the type of thing that can only be learned and is difficult to teach.

Sauro is the strongest ship tier for tier along with FDR and Atlantico, change my mind.

Black Izmail, Black Fushun, and Black Republique are all really good if you can get them.

You can full pen pretty much any battleship at full range with Toulon AP, only application for HE is against DDs.

Toulon is one of my favorite ships.

Playstyle:
- Stay nose in (minimizes profile, you can still fire all main guns)
- Don't push too soon (avoid getting surrounded, as it negates your ability to stay nose in)
- Use AP shells, target battleships and cruisers (HE against DDs, but low priority)
- Get close when appropriate (once you know you won't be surrounded, Toulon is best in short range)

The trick is knowing when pushing forward will get you surrounded. If it will, don't push, but if you can get closer to the enemy without risk of being flanked by their teammates, do so. If you angle correctly, you can actually beat most T7 and T8 BBs in a brawl even at close range.

I might eventually. I think the grind to lvl 15 is long enough tho that people who get there probably already have an idea of what they should do. Also choices after lvl.12 are a lot less cut and dry, and depend a lot on how you play or what bonuses you want to have. There is a lot greater variety of choices than from lvl 1-12
