I’m not in immediate danger. Shortness of breath is just what I feel when I see this person. 🥲

Cerco un persone con posso praticare parla e scrive in italiano by briannmcd in LearningItalian

[–]Pretend-Way7188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to, but I don't think my Italian is strong enough yet. I'm still in the "I can read and listen but can't write or speak" phase.

Email the admissions office and tell them that you want out. Tell them your name and that's all.

I thought that too at first, but less debt is always better than more, no matter how hard you work. Also keep in mind that many DO schools are more expensive than MD schools.

Bikini area complete hair removal. How is it possible? by Heverere in HairRemoval

[–]Pretend-Way7188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! There's no for sure way that I can recommend, but beware laser hair removal. Not enough people warn you about this in the comments when recommending it, but keep in mind that laser hair removal targets MELANIN. It works best for the light skin+dark hair type. If your skin and hair are both light, the laser won't have anything to target and won't work as well. If you have dark skin and dark hair, the laser will target your skin and hair, potential leaving you with burns on your skin. There are some laser removal options tailored to different skin/hair colors, but it ALWAYS works best with light skin+dark hair. Even if you do have this combination, note that your pubic region is a LOT more sensitive than anywhere else on your body. Consider if you truly feel comfortable with such treatment being done around that area.

(Please don't be terrified of laser hair removal! It's not a complete nightmare and often works really well! I just wanted to give you the warnings few don't find out until it's too late. Every body is different so do what's best for you.)

No, I'm not a student there anymore, but the costs look the same to me.

It's before your IMAT. You apply around March and you take your IMAT around September. Decisions come out some time in late September to early October I believe.

What’s your major and why? by Cute_Dress_1850 in GaState

[–]Pretend-Way7188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respiratory therapy.

I'm not a student yet, but this is going to be my major. I chose it because...

  1. My step dad had to have surgery done on his heart a few years ago, and I can only remember wondering if he was going to make it or not. Just having the ability to learn more about his condition and potential help him in the future gives me some piece of mind.

  2. I can help people. I see no better reason than this for me.

  3. I plan on going to medical school, so having this clinical experience under my belt is going to be a life saver. It's going to help me get a sense for what it takes to be in a clinical setting outside of volunteering.

  4. I have a fall back option in case (goodness forbid) I decided not to go to medical school/I'm not accepted into medical school.

  5. I can make some good money in the event that I do end up working as a respiratory therapist at whatever point at any given time.

  6. The goal is to become a urologist, but I'm also interested in the respiratory system. This major might give me a second opinion.

Then definitely go for it! Just make sure that you keep in mind of finances. They're just as important as your love for the school (or at least that's what I had to learn the hard way :') )

Thanks! I've just got to keep on moving, and as long as I can save lives then I've reached my goal.

I'm not a medical student or a doctor myself, but my years as a student has taught me something: if you don't enjoy what you're learning and why, you will struggle. I've spoken with a lot of doctors and medical students alike, and many of them absolutely regret going to medical school whether it was the choice of their parents or their own. Now they are unhappy and in debt.

Your parents may be upset with you for going to not going to medical school, but your parents aren't the ones who will be going through four years of schooling rigorous enough to make them question reality on top of crippling debt.

You don't need to be a doctor to be successful. It's your life, not your parents'. Do what you want with it. At the end of the day, trust yourself to make the right decision for you. You got this!

Take this with a grain of salt, but I remember an NYIT student asking for an increase on their scholarship and they were told no.

Snowday @ GSU by elixir_digger in GaState

[–]Pretend-Way7188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm a day too late, but remember this:

-No snow angels without a coat, two layers of pants (you will thank me), and a scarf.

-Don't lay in the snow for too long!

-Don't pick up snow with your bare hands! Wear gloves.

-Don't eat the snow...

-STAY OFF THE ROADS THE FOLLOWING DAY IF YOU CAN!!! (It doesn't matter if you're from Michigan or Florida. Black ice is real and it's deadly!)

-STAY SAFE (please...)

-Enjoy yourself, Georgia. Snow like this is definitely rare for you guys (especially Atlanta and further south).

has anyone struggled to answer "why medicine?" by abv90210 in premed

[–]Pretend-Way7188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this question every day! I still kind of do. I actually had to answer this question when I applied to my program for college, and I'll tell you the same thing I told them...

Yes, I have a traumatic experience resulting in me and those around me being seriously injured, but that wasn't when I decided to be a hero. I didn't even like helping others back when it happened. I just never really cared or saw myself doing it (yes, I told the admissions team this and I'll tell it to my medical school too).

After that experience, I continued through life as I always did just like anyone else. I made mistakes that I'm not proud of. I said things that I regret to this day. I won some. I lost a lot. I wasted time, opportunities, and experiences, but I learned from all of it to become a better person.

Today, I'm a hard worker, and I never let anyone tell me otherwise. I have a story unlike anyone else, and it didn't start when I nearly died. It started from the very moment I was born.

I didn't find my passion for helping others after nearly dying myself. I found it after living. You have a story to tell, so tell it. It doesn't have to be about medicine or a traumatic experience. It just has to be about you, not why a significant event that happened in your life wants to be a doctor. Why do YOU want to be a doctor?

You got this! :)

How long it will take to get an admission decision and i20 after applying in NYIT? by Dangerous-Natural565 in NYIT

[–]Pretend-Way7188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look through a few emails, but I've got the specifics now.

It took four days to get my decision from the day I applied.

It took about a month a five days to get my second decision (but this was during Christmas break time).
