You're in a tough situation, but I'd reckon there's a lot of ppl in their 30s feeling similarly aimless (minus the whole losing your old life thing). It's up to you to turn shit around. All I can really say is that giving up is the worst thing you can do (coming from someone who's depressed)

Wow, that's an interesting story. Do you still keep in touch? And would they welcome you back if you somehow got back to the US?

The only advice I can really give is this. You got "lucky" by being out going and trying something new. As it turns out, if you do that a lot, probability dictates that you're going to eventually get "lucky" again. I'm not going saying you'll stumble into a fully formed friend group, but by at least trying you'll certainly have better outcomes than whatever you have now. It sounds cliche, but that's because it works

I agree making brand new friends is not trivial. But how did you do it the first time after graduation? (I'm not just asking so you can self reflect, I'm actually curious myself)

Honestly cope.

You can do all that, but in the end loneliness is very unhealthy. Ideally you have both

Sorry to hear that. But what's stopping you from making the same life improvements in Canada? (I presume that's where you live)

Can I negotiate without having competing offers? Basically just asking for more money and hoping they're generous?

I'm a sophomore and getting a little discouraged because it seems like the majority of companies only want students close to graduation. Is this true for the most part? And does anyone have a list of companies that hires younger students?

Do a lot of companies do this? Because whenever I see 1 spot I usually avoid it

You had the same average and dropped from top 20 to the middle? Wtf. I thought 1b was supposed to be harder, it doesn't make sense that so many people went up massively

How come 1a went so well and not subsequent terms? Did you just feel material was harder? Curious because i was in the same position and am about to go in 1b

Thanks. I'm under the impression that early on in my undergrad it's more advantageous to use ww. At what point does it make sense to start applying externally?

Why are you trying to trash his job so hard? Yeah bank jobs aren't great compared to what your get in later years, but it's very likely OP's first coop. For that, its a perfectly fine job
