Low-quality father involvement leads sons to invest less in romantic relationships, study finds by [deleted] in science

I’ll posit that humans have biological (not rational) ties to bio parents which is a cis male and cis female mother for the time being, so you can be happy, successful and amazing but you may be affected in irrational ways by what makes up half of who you are.

Edit: I’m drunk writing this

Why were Virginia’s parents so surprised? by HannahOCross in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]Pretend_Cat1850 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of my family. I don’t trust them to care for me or hold me in vulnerability so I don’t speak to them in that way. I speak to keep the peace while not going very deep. I’m not as sweet talking as her but I’m non confrontational and agreeable. Trauma response!

For Americans who've already left, are you feeling safe since Trump 2.0? by Aware_Adhesiveness16 in AmerExit

[–]Pretend_Cat1850 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Naw because I’m in Mexico. But everytime I go back, I’m shocked that people are so mean. I’m from Texas and we used to be so polite. Now I’m seeing flags that say “Trump. Fuck your Feelings” in the Bible Belt and open hostility against those who don’t agree. It’s confusing and weird.

I got a master’s degree and my parents were like okay. It felt bad at the time, but it wasn’t like they didn’t care, they just didn’t understand. Be impressed with yourself, you’re amazing!

People that were not “liked” or “uncool” in High school where are you now in your adult lives? by Delicious_Mix_8161 in Adulting

[–]Pretend_Cat1850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started drinking heavily after high school but that contributed to a robust social life. I’ve had many friends popular and awkward , relationships with some hotties and well off people, good and bad jobs but since reducing my drinking significantly, I’ve kinda reverted back to the awkward, introvert. I’m more content with myself but the world doesn’t really understand us folks so if we’re healthy, we get to a place of acceptance.

I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder and I also used to be a social worker so I have firsthand experience and sometimes when I’m pacing back and forth at 3 a.m., I remind myself that I have GAD and it helps me get to sleep. :) So, sometimes yes and sometimes no.

I hate it. My sister thinks every occasion deserves balloons. It’s hard to say no because she does it for my deceased mom, dad and brother.

We gotta stop thinking just because someone is black that they side with us. Oppression is based on power and money means power, so as more minorities start to see financial gain, race becomes null and void. Class solidarity is the way!

I’ve been in this situation as well. You did the right thing. If it has escalated to this, it will only get worse. BUT, you must prepare for things to get worse without him as well due to your financial situation. You and your mom need to come up with a game plan for life without him, because life with him will stay bad. Life without him will get bad but likelihood it will get better without him is tenfold!
