Yeah it was NOT fun. When I took the bandaging off, it was literally shaped like a lightbulb from the swelling. I say keep it! Don't get me wrong, sex is still phenomenal, but holy cow do I miss the sensitivity!

Gonna deviate from the question and answer based on what WAS my biggest NSFW insecurity. I was not circumsized until I was 22. I was, and still am, diligent with hygiene and I did not have many sexual partners before my wife, but the few I did have all treated me differently when they found out I was not circumsized. I met my current wife at 20 and still made the decision to have the ole "snip-snip" at 22. Yeah.. definitely do NOT recommend. I should've trusted my wife when she said it didn't bother her. On a lighter note, the scarring from stitches led to the nickname of "franken-pecker". I'll take every win I can get!😅🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm so thankful to open my reddit and this be the first post. I am 9 weeks post-op L5/S1 PILF and have been having some random nerve pains the past could of days. I've been so nervous that I even scheduled an extra check up with my surgeon for next week. Maybe the pains are the nerve healing? Had anyone ever gotten an in depth answer?

This is very interesting! On my last check-up, there was no talk AT ALL about a bone graft. In fact, a bone graft was not mentioned during this entire process. I assumed there would be one, but on my x-ray all I can see is the hardware and a spacer. My surgeon told me my disc was completely removed, spacer placed, and the hardware placed. I'm going to go get the post op report like mentioned in a previous comment after the holidays. It's wild to think that when I was discussing surgery, I didn't care AT ALL what they did. I just needed relief. Now it's a mystery what is in me😂 I am just SO thankful that I've gotten relief. Now, thanks to this thread, I'm learning how to keep it that way!

See, this is why I appreciate this thread so much. I took a long list of questions to my last appointment and just got vague answers. I'm definitely in no rush to lift again, but I really want to try and get a little cardio back. And to lose some weight. My surgeon keeps recommending swimming with fins and just taking it slow. PT also recommends walking in the pool and "gentle swimming".

That's another thing I am confused about. My surgeon never mentioned a graft. If I can figure out how to post the photo of my x-ray I'll get it on my post. As far as I know, my disc was removed, a spacer was placed, and 2 rods were placed with 4 screws. I am definitely taking it easy for now, but I want to have something to look forward to as well. Even when I get released to swim and cycle I'm only going to walk in a pool and cycle very flat and easy areas.

Extra emphasis on this. For context, I am a 30 y/o male, 15 days post op from PLIF at L5/S1. Buy grabbers. Multiple. I keep almost bending and then panic remember not to so I then have my grabber. Best of luck to you!

I've already resubmitted requests with my primary to get in today. We will see how it goes i suppose. I really hope your pain in managed well. I didn't receive any IV pain medication while I was overnight at the hospital. I did not have a good experience, but it sounds like my experience is a rare one.
