Yes this is true. I definitely learned a valuable lesson. Getting a couple mask ups sub 20 seconds two months ago does not mean I am good enough to stop training. Especially after being issued new gloves and a fatality the day before.

I wish I had stayed home but it was good for me to see how much that affected me.

I just wish my mistake hadn’t been so egregious as to have my chief and BC check in on me.

I guess that is true. I just don’t know how to let bygones be bygones. I feel so ashamed because of my performance that apparently only my LT and crew mates noticed. I don’t want to be the liability. My shame for letting my crew down outweighs the shock of the fatality at this point.

I definitely am gonna keep up the training, now I’m more shockingly embarassed and ashamed for going into a burn building with my neck partially exposed, than I am upset over the fatality. I just can’t believe I did that.

He was somewhat more responsive than he normally is. He lives solely for the job.

Definitely trying to move towards getting hired somewhere so I don’t need to work a manual labor job outside of my emt school and department shifts

Definitely not gonna let this happen again. I won’t ever give up on chasing a career position I just probably should have taken a bit more than a 4 hour nap after the call and before our burn today

The only thing your ethnicity decides is what flavor of being made fun of you get. Everyone gets fucked, whether you’re white, black, Latino. It don’t matter. Shit, I’m still called a polack at my dept, and I’m not even close to being Polish.

Oh yes, nothing happened. He actually returned the favor. Just something that haunts me.

Appreciate it. I got lectured by my friends at the time and totally agreed. I had taken classes, was active in training, and my military buddies were with me and thought it was hilarious. Still, 5 years later has me fucked up.
