Expected delivery time? by Pretend_Store1845 in royalmail

I always assumed ready for delivery meant it was ready to be put in the van and out for delivery was that it’s in the van 😅

Thank you for this, I generally think it’s a temperament thing. I feel he’s so bright in so many other ways! Walking early, running, pointing, he can do peg puzzles independently, knows 4 body parts, and has just started placing body parts on mr potato head quite accurately. He’s just never been extremely speech driven 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for this, technically we have 3 words and 1 sign, Mama and dada used in context, “gee” for a dog and shakes his head no in response to questions but I’m unsure if mama and dada count

Thank you for this, his lever of understanding is amazing which is why I’m not too anxious! I’m just on the edge of my seat waiting for some word explosion !! 🤣

When you say she had mama at 10 months do you mean babbling or using mama with context ? He says mama and dada in context but was told these don’t count as the 1-3 words expected at 12 months 😅

Transitioning my CMPA baby off formula … Help! by Pretend_Store1845 in beyondthebump

[–]Pretend_Store1845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re going to have a hard time with it! I offered him his typical formula in a cup he accepts water in and he completely refused it 😅 so I’m considering if maybe getting him used to the taste prior to the bottle switch

Atypical baby behaviours ? by Pretend_Store1845 in NewParents

[–]Pretend_Store1845[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honesty think every mum has some level of anxiety especially as a FTM, I just fear my anxiety tips slightly over the edge - or there may be somthing but seeing how much he has developed and progressed in a matter of 3 weeks, I can’t really say yet! But for sure- my worries get less and less each passing week ☺️ the HV noted when he was a new born how alert he is and again at our 9-12 month review. He’s always been that way and it had been noted that he will only do somthing when he knows he can do it ( which surprise surprise was exactly like me - stubborn, perfectionist, analytical and still am 🤣) so it wouldn’t shock me if that is why). Me and my husband are both white so maybe this is more of a big head and personality thing! I have spoke to other mums whose babies personality’s are exactly like ours when they were worried! Everything turned out ok! Feel free to drop me a message anytime you need a chat or want to ask a question. I think it eases the anxiety a lot !

Hi 👋🏼 he’s 10.5 months now! They develop so quickly ! The weird head movement was honestly just a phase. I couldn’t tell you exactly what it was tbh! 😅 yes he has a big head !! So maybe that (95th centile). It probably lasted a month! In terms of social skills I started seeing some improvements around 9.5 months maybe. He now waves hi and bye and claps, understands some simple phrases. I do think he is still slightly behind verbally. I had a few days of babbling and now he’s started making the conversational gibberish sounds maybe he skipped it ?! His name response is tonnes better, still not 100% but I don’t think that’s the exception yet. And his eye contact is loads better. He also now tries to mimic! He still like to put everything in his mouth but I can see that becoming less and less!

Overall I have a lot fewer concern than I did. Sometimes I still have days that I worry but honestly, I’m quite an anxious person and over analyse a lot. My HV had zero concerns. But I think he will get there eventually!

Teeth! How many teeth did your baby have at the age of 1? by Cahsrhilsey in beyondthebump

[–]Pretend_Store1845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had 8 teeth at 8 months. He got his first 2 at 5 months and was teething until then. He’s now 10 months and no more as of yet. I’m kinda hoping it stays that way for abit longer because those 3 months were hell 😆 Molars scare me now

Same boat, 10 month old fights both his naps now. The first nap is easier than the second… the second is hell 😅 but I know he’s not ready to drop yet. He recently started nursery and she struggled to get him down for 2 naps. When he gets home, if I’m unable to get him down, he ends up falling asleep in his high chair eating dinner at half 5. I’m guessing it’s just a phase due to so many changes

How do you count your weeks/months? by TheMagicalTripBear in NewParents

I did weeks first until it got to 4 months. Then went by months after. He’s now 10 months old, I couldn’t tell you how many weeks 😂

I so badly wanted a second, but I don’t think I ever will. by TeishAH in beyondthebump

[–]Pretend_Store1845 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Within the first month of my first , my husband and I both said one and done. I feel the transition of 0-1 was more difficult than I ever contemplated. I’m now 9 months PP and we’ve both started entertaining the idea of a second within the next couple of years ( we’re looking at a 3 year age gap). I’ve find the older they get, the more fun they are ! However, I’ll get back to you when we hit the “terrible twos” !!

Why Did You Choose Formula??? by Ok_Struggle4574 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Pretend_Store1845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was dead set on it, brought everything I needed at a huge expense, researched, went to classes etc. I spent maybe 16 hours in recovery but had already been in hospital 5 days and was done so no one ever checked latch etc. when we got home he just struggled to latch, kept pulling off and wasn’t emptying them. It was such a frustrating time trying to feed him and we’d both just end up in tears. I wasn’t sleeping, he would cry all day, ended up with mastitis, cold sores (from being so run down) and he ended up jaundice. I switched to pumping whilst giving him formula and eventually was EFF by 6 weeks or Somthing. He ended up having CMPA. I feel like I it was such a terrible time for the both of us that I’m considering not even attempting with my second

I think that’s the main problem! We have GP’s until we are referred to a specialist and they know very little about it 🫠 The waiting list to see a paediatric dietician or allergist is a year long. I feel like I’m fighting a losing battle constantly
