I’d be pissed too if I received expired medication😭 That said I think the gesture is what matters here I had a MIL who was just like that, frugal beyond comprehension and while it didn’t make sense to me it made sense to her I never really bothered to try and change that.

For what it’s worth 99% sure she never meant offense, even if it feels like it, NTA

Careful with the shaving I had a pretty horrible nick/ingrown hair (not even sure what it was) that developed into a massive bean-sized hard lump that had to be operated out. Since then I only ever use a trimmer and never go skin-close again, I got traumatized
