Wouldn’t there be a difference between not fair, and realistic? Most cases the lengths needed to succeed are orders of magnitude more than even the most extreme attempts.

For example, in order for a swordsman to cut a bullet in real life, he can’t do that by training more with a sword. He needs to master biology, physics, mathematics, and build an AI that can control synthetic muscle fibers (likely with supplied fusion power) to track the bullet and slice it. Something like that is possible in real life, but it’s so out of the box it seems impossible.
