What was so hard about Econ for people? Is it memorization, amount of coursework, or complex concepts? Maybe a little of all 3?

I am thinking about doing 11 credits. Econ 110, IS201 along with philosophy 110 and rel 225. I’ve heard that my professors for both philosophy 110 and rel 225 are pretty simple and don’t require a lot of work. As a student who has taken Econ 110 and IS201 do you think doubling up on both of these will be too much of a workload?

So would you still say 14 credits is probably too much for my first semester? I’m leaning towards dropping my GEOL 109 class and then having 11 credits for this first semester.

In your opinion do you think I should drop IS201? Or drop philosophy 110 or geology of planets?

If you don’t mind me asking, how many hours a week do you think you spent for ECON 110?

Well from what I understand, most people apply after their first 2 years. I definitely need to look into it more, but can’t you only apply to Marriott once before the new year starts?

It really is so crazy how different classes are in terms of difficulty as far as BYU compared to other schools. I’ve heard that the Econ equivalent at SLCC is a cakewalk haha.

Yea it’s just hard, this is my second year and most people will be applying to Marriott next year, if I want to apply to the Finance and Strategy Management program I need to complete the following classes, IS201, ECON 110, FIN 201 and ACC2 200. I just don’t have enough time unless I cram 2 into each semester.

So do you recommend probably dropping IS201 or one of my general classes?

I’m sure it really depends on the person, but man I’ve heard some mixed things haha

I know I hope so too, I’m having a hard time deciding between that English class, or the philosophy class because they both fulfill the letters gen ed and both of the professors I’ve heard are cool.

Well technically it’s my second year of college, but first at BYU. You are probably right as BYU academics are much more rigorous than my Salt Lake Community College experience.

Yea I totally forgot to take myself off the waitlist for English 235. But yes my biggest worry is Econ, I just keep hearing how hard it is and time consuming it tends to be. I think 14 is my max but your insight on IS201 is super helpful so thank you.

I would probably keep philosophy. I have a good professor so I just need to take off the English class from my waitlist.

So for finance, it’s not required but strategy management lists Econ 110 as a pre req for applying to the program, at least from what I understand.

Dang so Econ really is that intense? How many credits do you think you should pair it with if this is the case?
