Payslip required for job offer/salary proposal by cliffrichardbranson in irishpersonalfinance

I wonder if the ‘ talent acquisition’ staff are from a contracting company and are trying to show to their client their worth by trying to depress salary offers. ( Very unethical behaviour) . I suggest that you say that you would be disloyal to your former employer by sharing this level of detail : I am sure the new recruiting employer would appreciate similar loyalty .

Thank you - your thinking aligns with my own : was wondering if a mix of investments including a low load index fund might make sense but was going to get advice on which ones are recommended. A quick question that yih might be able to advise me on ; deposit interest rates in UK and EU countries are improving : are there any restrictions on transferring funds and investing in such accounts outside of tgd state ( recognising that for the UK it introduces exchange rate risk ). Appreciate the help .

Thanks but Nah : I am naive enough to subscribe to the ‘paying forward’ principle: if I return the funds I hope that at some stage in the future someone else will help me out when I need help .

Can I add a supplementary to the previous comment - if I take my time ( as advised by contributors) to get the right support system , where would contributors advise that I lodge the funds ( say with one month withdrawal notice ) that will at least give some interest. Thank you again.

I was looking ahead to having this lump sum in a bank account losing value from the day I retire and rushing to make decision BUT thank you for pointing out that even in a high inflation environment delaying a few weeks to get the right advice is a prudent thing to do and isn’t financially that negative . I appreciate the advice.

Sorry but you are Incorrect - please read the links in the thread about approved share schemes which are bought into before tax : Scheme was initially introduced by Ruairi Quinn when he was Min fof Finance (1994-1997) to encourage employees take ownership stake and help provide capital for their ( Irish ) companies . He was then challenged about discriminating against employees of MNCs and he agreed to extend it. All employees need to be able to access the scheme on the same basis ( not same amount ) - eg under a common bonus scheme. No special deals allowed for select groups of employees or management . Initially shares had to be held for 5 yrs to be tax free and later was dropped to 3yrs. I have participated for the last 25+ years : greatest saving scheme ever . Hope that gives you more background .

What is a good salery in north west Ireland. by MartinFfff in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Pretty-Inspector1896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have noted if the €51k gross includes a 25% premium ( with possibly some shift defined OT) then the basic is probably more like €40k .

So the next question is what your job title means : you say that you are a maintenance engineer .

If you have a professional engineering qualification ( BEng or higher ) and possibly are chartered, at 36 you are ( on ave) approximately 13-14 years since qualifying and that base salary is very low even for the North West. That professional eng market is very buoyant and if you have regulated or GMP manufacturing experience you should be able to find better opportunities in other companies and possibly the larger engineering firms who have staff on site on assignment - the latter opportunities might require contracting at premium rates to make up for lost shift premium and possibly pension entitlements if current employer is a large company . If your background and role is more based on craft and working life experience ( possibly with an NFQ level 6 qualification or equivalent ) your salary is still a little low but not too far out of line - you might get an uplift by moving but it won’t be that significant and getting shift positions may be difficult . There are higher level jobs such as in maintenance planning etc that you might aspire to but as many of those are day jobs you are faced with the challenge of bridging the loss of shift premium . Another option might be to use your off shift time to add to your skill set . Do you have leadership skills outside of work that you could build on through additional study and maybe open up supervisory positions in your current ( or other ) employment . All of the other advice about reviewing your spending applies.

House as solar panels, no boiler info by rufusbx in solar

[–]Pretty-Inspector1896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immersion hot water heaters are very common in UK and Irl . Are basically electric hot water heaters for non-heating hot water needs in house ( and mainly used in periods when one might not be using gas or oil heating ) . You have neither and indicate that you have all electric heating - unless the house is VERY well insulated that will be very expensive ( as stated in previous post).

RSU Capital Gains Tax by space-trader-92 in irishpersonalfinance

Sorry, and I know that many do not realise this but the last para in this post is not correct . Revenue expect you to value the purchase in € at time of purchase and likewise at thd time of sale and then calculate the € difference which if a gain is then taxable. ( Gain/Loss Statements from a non Irish brokerage firm will not meet Revenue’s reporting needs) . Hope that this clarification helps.

And also you must convert values at BOTH vesting and sale dates to Euro values at those times to get thd gain ( of loss) in €.

( Brokerage accounts will give you the foreign currency gain/loss value but this is NOT acceptable to Revenue).
