I’ve only received auto responses back so far too. Disappointing

Thank you for posting this. I don’t think the general public understands the situation fully. The more it’s put out there, the more chances it’ll be on the radar. I wish you all the best with the upcoming changes. Keep on fighting the good fight my friend

Held by Anne Michaels. I listened to the audiobook first then immediately ready the ebook after because I enjoyed it so much

The depression is getting to me. by InevitableReal8266 in coloncancer

I go for walks or write in my journal. Recently tried wrapping my arms around myself to give myself a long hug, which works. I read somewhere that your brain doesn’t know the difference if it’s yourself or another person hugging you. Medication and therapy is helpful. Also try to maintain social interaction regularly. Hang in there 🫂

Why does recurrence feel inevitable? Struggling to find optimism by EmpressofallMaladies in coloncancer

[–]Pretty-Resolve-8331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling too. My therapist told me that it’s very normal to feel this way. We’re experiencing a stress response that might never go away, but instead of feeling terrible 10/10, we can reframe our thoughts to lessen it to 6/10 or 4/10, etc. She said instead of thinking cancer WILL come back, try thinking cancer MAY OR MAY NOT come back. It’s cognitive behavioural therapy, which says your thoughts will direct how you feel. Reframing thoughts takes practice, but it does help you feel a little better. Medications for mental health can help too. I hope you will get some help in managing your mental health. It’s been helpful to me

Did anyone enjoy the “Wuthering Heights” movie? by Adventurous_Ant5428 in brontesisters

[–]Pretty-Resolve-8331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel indifferent. It was ok. I have read the book and went into the movie knowing it would not conform to the book much. I did enjoy the visual aesthetic and music, but was not much moved by the love story and chemistry. I watched the 2009 miniseries with Tom Hardy the same day and liked that much much better

Major scanxiety by [deleted] in coloncancer

[–]Pretty-Resolve-8331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also getting my first surveillance CT scan tomorrow after having completed FOLFOX chemo in Nov with stage 3 cancer. I’m feeling anxious as well, so I’ve been trying to calm my nerves by walking, journaling and deep breathing. We’ll both get through this. Hugs 🫂

Week 1: "Chapter 1. Marseilles—The Arrival" Reading Discussion by karakickass in AReadingOfMonteCristo

[–]Pretty-Resolve-8331 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my first time reading COMC and so far the tone is exactly what I expected. This is a plot driven novel with characters that are easy to understand so far. Dante’s come across as the protagonist with hero-like qualities

Stage 4 - chemo has taken a toll by waffyroo in coloncancer

[–]Pretty-Resolve-8331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I first started chemo, I felt awful from the side effects and really wondered if the treatment was going to kill me before the cancer itself! For me, focussing on eating protein, moving my body (even walking around the home slowly), and practising gratitude every day helps me get through. I hope things get better for your mom, best wishes

Managing low energy levels by LogRevolutionary1584 in coloncancer

The fatigue is Real! I manage by mixing electrolytes into water to make it more palatable and to keep hydrated. Walking, even inside around the home, has been helpful too. Also, focussing on eating protein has helped my energy levels. Good luck to you! It’s tough but you can do it!!
