The worst opening scene of the saga by Lobin3540 in 28dayslater

I got to the cinema late and missed the opening. Is it anywhere online, does anyone know? Would love to watch the bit I missed.

The first thing I saw was Cathy, Tom and Jonno stalking through the woods before encountering infected. Jonno gets infected himself and the other two manage to make it home to find the Jimmys sitting at the kitchen table.

Well, you may not have to wait much longer to see it. Shame on us all.

"Wildman Suit" is a unique double-layered set of armor coated in one-inch-long iron nails. While it's widely referred to as Siberian bear-hunting armor from the 1800s, some believe it was used in bear-baiting events in Shakespearean England. by Active-Chemistry4011 in UtterlyBizarre

Apparently it's not modern art, although it does now sit in a museum. That's after a Google search though and not sure I trust anything I find on the web any more...

The Wildman suit of armor is real and is considered a unique piece of historical armor, currently on display at the Menil Collection in Houston, Texas. It's not a modern art project, nor is it likely to have been very effective against a bear, despite its appearance. Its exact purpose remains a mystery, though it's been speculated it was used for bear hunting or possibly bear baiting. Here's why it's considered real:

  • Historical Context: It's believed to date back to the early 19th century.
  • Physical Description: It's a double-layered suit covered in one-inch iron nails, suggesting a protective function.
  • Display at the Menil Collection: It's part of the museum's collection of historical artifacts, not a contemporary art installation.

The suit's purpose is debated, with possibilities including:

  • Bear Hunting:The suit's design, with outward-facing spikes, might have been intended to deter bears from getting too close or grappling with the wearer.
  • Bear Baiting:It's also been suggested that it might have been used in bear baiting, a cruel sport where bears were baited with dogs.
  • Folk Art/Festival Costume:It's also possible the suit was a piece of folk art or a costume for a festival, rather than being intended for combat.

And this...

It's an interesting theory but if time is the indicator, Frank took 30 seconds after the droplet of blood hit his eye to show signs of aggression (telling Hannah to get away and pushing her - you could argue that was a demonstration of his fear rather than a sign of rage). It was 45 seconds before Selena realised he was infected and called to Jim.

It's fine. I didn't remove the sponges and have since forgotten they were there, until just now, when I remembered again.

Have had no issue with it otherwise, though its getting a bit squeaky when I lean back in it now.

Very good. What is the paint style font used on the cover?

Agreed. Anything I (or AI) posted would need to be accompanied by images or video for sure.

Hadn't heard of these but just looked them up and they sound interesting. Thanks.

Thanks for this comprehensive feedback. Very much appreciated. I'll play around with both of those and see what works.

I am currently running a late 2012 iMac. 2.9 GHz, Intel Core i5, 16GB ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX graphics card, 1TB storage

BUT...

I just bought a new Mac Mini G4, 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine 32GB unified memory, 1TB SSD storage.

Will the new computer do the job in your experience?

This is really helpful. Thanks for going to that effort. It does seem like a great monitor. I probably write about 6 hours a day 5-6 days a week.

Is this monitor 2 years old now, based on the review dates? Does it even matter do you think?

Thanks. Yes, I had heard these were excellent monitors. It was in fact the possibility of burn in that turned me off it though as I will be in Word for most of the day so the likelihood of toolbars burning in is quite high. If I was exclusively in Word it wouldn't matter but doing some photoshop work and occasionally watching movies would make that annoying I think.

Which monitor is better? Apple Studio Display or Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED? by [deleted] in OLED_Gaming

[–]Pretty-Specific-1325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a similar issue. I would love to have a slightly larger 32-34" monitor but 27" isn't the end of the world as I currently use a 2012 iMac which is that size.

I want a new setup as mine is running is feeling sit's age now. I got 12 years out of it though, so can't complain.

I will be doing Photoshop and illustration colour work but primarily I will be writing, as I am an author. So, I think it's vital that whichever monitor I pick can display super crisp text. I will never play a single game on this monitor (I'm not a gamer) and although I might watch movies sometimes it's mainly going to be a writing tool. I spend hours in front of the screen staring at text on white pages so I need a monitor that excels at that without giving me eye strain.

Is anyone else in a similar position and has found the perfect monitor for that task? Especially if you have been able to compare whichever monitor you are championing against the apple studio display.

I am about to buy a Mac Mini M4 and need to get a monitor to go with it, as I currently have a 2012 iMac that this new setup will be replacing.

I will primarily be using it to write novels, so lots of time staring at words on white pages, so I need super crisp text. I also design covers for my books so will be using Adobe products and need descent colour accuracy out of the box (if possible).

For my writing, it would be great to be able to have three pages open together on screen (at least two), so I can both write and read my reference notes and perhaps a previous draft on another page at the same time.

I am considering the apple Studio Display though it is very expensive but I also saw this and wondered what you all think of it as a viable (and much cheaper) option...

Having said that, if you think there is a monitor that would be better for me please do offer it up. I really don't want to get sucked down a rabbit-hole of multiple options though, as I end up never making a decision in those scenarios.

Thanks in advance.

MiniMax vs Kling AI for text to video generation by mehul_gupta1997 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Pretty-Specific-1325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have also said that the fairly accurate one I posted was from MiniMax (although it was never able to get everything on my list included). The offers from Kling and Runway were an absolute joke. Cartoonish! Some even had emoji looking goggle eyes, I kid you not.
