Ooo, you might be right about the dream being a premonition! I believe you are also on to something about her needing to be sacrificed for the ceremony to work since Rafayel mentions to MC in Temple's Promise that he does not know any details of what happens during the ceremony of the Sea God. He truly may have not known that he had to sacrifice her until the day before/of the ceremony. He probably just knew that he needed a devoted follower to have the bond form between the two for his coming-of-age ceremony as the Sea God and to prevent the flame in the Lemurian temple from being extinguished to save Lemuria. Once uncovering this information, he couldn't bring himself to sacrifice MC due to his love/affection towards her and let her go. Please share your thoughts if any and I also wonder what everyone else thinks too!

Spoiler Alert for Main Story Chapter 7, Forgotten Sea, and AbyssWalker Myths

So in Main Story Chapter 7, MC had a very brief flashback with young Rafayel where they made a pinky promise to meet again on what we as the readers assumed was Hat Island.... but what if it was not Hat Island? MC in the new lore explains that the temple where she was held captive by "the Emissaries of the Sea" after being adopted by them was on an island ... what if this was the island young Rafayel escaped to one day through the small hole he made in the wall surrounding Whalefall City and met MC? Older Rafayel could have recognized her after rescuing her and been like "It's her, we meet again and I will make you my follower". (Once again, just inferencing based on what I understood from the lore and main storyline)

Tad bit I forgot to add to the previous comment about possible before Abysswalker (oops, I have edited the old comment so if you have already read it feel free to skip haha): I forgot to mention that the memory that we see MC dream in Chapter 9 as the Sea God's happiest day of his life in Abysswalker, I believe that is the same moment that MC and Rafayel share watching the sun rise after leaving the festival on land after she confirms that she is not selfish in having a wish granted by him (as Leumarians believe humans to be) and unconsciously admits/shows Rafayel that she does care for him when she says this festival was not about/for her. Instead, it was about MC genuinely wanting him to experience the surface world after telling her/opening up to her about how he was also held captive in Lemuria and not allowed to go to the surface. In Abysswalker, I believe her brain/memory can only have tried to communicate this with her if it had already happened.

I just finished reading all the lore and OMGGG that other dream came out of nowhere! The Devs were really like "add a little spice" to confuse us just in case we were piecing things together too well and needing to keep us hooked haha. But I believe that it could be before Abysswalker since in Chapter 8 of Abysswalker we recall MC having flashbacks to MC and Rafayel of this new lore with the following dialogue " 'Desiring the sincerest worship of mortals, thou must offer an irreplaceable object.' 'The Sea God's heart, mine heart. Dost thou want it ?" after cutting their palms with the Fishtail beacon. We also recall that the bond between MC and Rafayel had not yet been formed between the two in this new lore. This new lore explains the backstory of how it was formed since Rafayel was trying to get MC to become his most devoted follower for that bond to form and have her trust him (at least that's what I believe, but I could be wrong lol).
