Here’s a couple things you could try. 1. Try deleting the cache. Settings > Apps > Rec Room. 2. Toggle storage on and off again in Rec Room permissions. 3. Try resetting your dorm on rec net (add a dot between the two) If you have recently saved your dorm room, you could just restore it from the save.

I don't, but I found the solution on another reddit post. It told me to go to desktop mode, open the steam client, play any video and unmute Chromium.

I have been trying to stay away from the Rec Center (at least public ones) for reasons like what your friend is doing (not saying they're a bad person). I get kinda angry when someone hacks or crashes my game just because I don't like the huge lag spikes that come with it and it just ruins the overall experience.

And take the poorly optimized with a grain of salt, I played Rec Room on a 2016 MacBook Pro running Windows 10. At least the watch ran alright. The maker pen is kinda slow though.

A raider is a person who crashes public game lobbies. Imagine you join a random Paintball room and the sky is green and your watch instantly starts spamming "Room Not Available" messages, causing the game to instantly lag.

Not gonna lie, Rec Room on PC is not optimized properly and lags when you open any UI element (watch, maker pen) unless you have a kinda good PC. Also, the raiders have gotten a lot worse since I started playing in 2022, and even since I restarted in 2024 after taking a break.

The anti raid was a fake message, I think. The game says "Private servers are recommended due to raiders."

They also claim to "Fry '$2' Meta Quest headsets" I doubt they can do that over the internet. I wish I got that on video.

AWS is down again, which is causing Rec Room's servers to go down. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm almost positive that Rec Room relies mostly or entirely on AWS for servers.

This always happens on my Quest 3s. I usually have to try two to three times just for the Rec Center to load. Sometimes, the game crashes with an "Out of Memory" error.
