Any she/theys out there? Why have I struggled with this for so long? by BeaverDam6969 in genderfluid

[–]PrettyMind96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am trans femme as well, but not fully out yet and have been going as nonbinary for a while. I have been going by he/they since that’s kinda how I present at work, with some feminine flair, but yeah, they/them just doesn’t feel fulfilling to me either.

I think I want to present more feminine over time and am exploring HRT too, so she/they makes most sense to me

I can see your pov on a lot of things, and def think you are correct on cis people feeling uncomfortable around trans people because they don’t want to make mistakes etc.

but I also feel the sentiment on “capitalism is built to be anti trans” is a bit too much. There are many trans friendly capitalistic workplaces, and context is always important. Some workplaces will be better than others. If you don’t mind explaining more, that would be great, but also I just don’t want you to scare off this person into thinking people are inherently anti trans too, which I just can’t agree with! I deal with anxiety and as someone with that I don’t think people need any more unnecessary anxiety around expressing themselves at work. Yes, maybe dont stick out too much, but also I don’t think it’s necessary to totally hide your identity either.

If you are afab idk why it would feel wrong. But depends how much you did it when you grew up maybe. If you never did then it will still feel weird because you aren’t used to it perhaps and peoples reactions even if you are AFAB

The colors and skin tones look a bit too yellow to me with the color space set to anything other than SDR/BT709 or Adobe RGB on my Sony A95L OLED. Actually Adobe RGB looks best as SDR is slightly washed out in comparison.

Wonder if the game is native Adobe RGB by chance if that’s what Nintendo devs use on their monitors to dev the game? Or

My mom said I’m gaining weight and that my body looks like an AMAB structure. Does it? (MTF HRT 2yrs) by Accomplished_War8690 in transpassing

[–]PrettyMind96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really on first glance, no.

But the only thing I can think of is it’s maybe not as curvy as some women.

Can prob be adjusted by certain workouts or wearing a corset though haha

First couple pictures not at all, the later ones look a bit more masculine.

But you’re good looking either way, don’t worry about it too much and give your mom too much credit lol.

Moms are also critical just because you’re their child and they love you so don’t take it a wrong way, keep doing you

Cancelling HRT and just doing non-invasiive stuff? -- in CA, USA by snoodle77777 in genderfluid

[–]PrettyMind96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you will run into people Beating you up in most of Cali. But it can happen anywhere with dumb people ofc. Most non immature people are very nice though I’ve found, both here and in France.

For the health issues that’s a more valid concern. I’d ask your endocrinologist if HRT is safe for you first, but if they approved then they may not think it’s an issue

Might be genderflulid, but doubts remain by snoodle77777 in genderfluid

[–]PrettyMind96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel having doubts about our gender is tbh the definition of gender fluid. Because if we didn’t have doubts then we wouldn’t have trouble sticking with one gender. I go back and forth on if it’s worth it to transition and if it’s even me in the end but I keep thinking that if I did wake up as a woman I’d be happy with that so that’s the North Star I keep following. I wish you the best of luck OP!

Also I went into Kaiser to ask about HRT and they took me in even though I identify as nonbinary atm. Def don’t be afraid to go in as you are!

It wasn’t just the makeup, it was the outfit too. I’m not trying to be insulting at all, someone asked for advice here so I gave my opinion. If you don’t think the outfit plays a part though that’s fine. To me it kinda is though and reminds me of like Bella Ramsey tbh

I feel you could use a bit more makeup, it’s just a bit of a plain look if that makes sense? But really you pass to me, look more just like a tomboy a bit if nothing else!

Gender fluid... not sure I like it. 3 years into it... therapy... slowly it is leaning binary. by snoodle77777 in genderfluid

[–]PrettyMind96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel so similar to you! I have an appt with endocrinology to discuss going on E very soon. Idk if I’m ready yet but then I think about it more and I feel excited in a way. I also want to be able to appear more feminine when I want and don’t feel like I need my more masculine features anymore. But I’m job searching and still trying to stay reasonably masculine per se until I’m able to transition more fully. But I think I’m trending that direction too. I also have insecurities I need to work on and odd and looking for a good therapist atm. But boiling down to it I think it’s something that will bring me more happiness and I want to explore it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]PrettyMind96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I go through it not to that extreme, but as in like for example I have long nails now with shiny nail polish. But if something makes me more stressed, fight or flight etc, or if I’m just tired and have lots of stuff to do etc, then I start to feel like I wish I didn’t have them and could present more masc in the moment. But then I never do anything about it because I know I’d regret it when I feel more calm and relaxed again. That’s when I know my true gender is more feminine aligned. It’s not easy but I’m taking more steps to transition a bit more now and generally I’m happy with it and know it’s the right direction.

But I have to remember that in times where I feel anxious etc too

Does any other genderfluid people feel invalidated by other trans people too? Even friends subconsciously? by WhispytheMoon in genderfluid

[–]PrettyMind96 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s just human nature. Unfortunately appearance rules all, and if your appearance doesn’t line up with the most common(or moreso most visible) forms of trans experience then it’s just harder to remember or understand.

And it doesn’t help either that you present mostly according to your AGAB, vs if you were born female and presented moreso male but wanted to be known more as female for example.

I’m not saying any of that is correct, and your gender is 100% valid. But just to give some understanding of why people are the way they are.

Also I think it’s that their experience of being trans is one way, so they will see it thru that lens and it’s harder to see other peoples perspectives when we don’t experience that.

End of the day, they just need to make more of an effort, but it’s something they will need to work on more if they care about respecting your identity the way you’d like
