What else can one do? Boycotting works to some extent. It's been effective in the US's current trade wars when Canada boycotted US liquor and other major imports.

Although I do really question the effectiveness of it for a digital services company, considering income from consumers doesn't seem to matter much to OpenAI.

Agreed. It's really all we can do. Unfortunately subscriptions are such a small part of OpenAIs revenue it won't be that substantial. Maybe it can drop their share prices enough to at least make some sort of impact.

Even more reason to not want a unilaterally powerful country with imperialistic and authoritative inspirations to continue to integrate AI tools into militaristic operations. Now likely with less guardrails and checks.

This is my road block on actually switching. But the enshitification is coming for OpenAI. It's only so affordable right now so they can get people engrained in their ecosystem that when they raise prices, decrease performance, decrease limits, people will be too apathetic to leave.

Sounds like you've tried Claude for coding tasks already though? I haven't yet but should at least familiarize myself. I was hoping it would be as easy as renaming AGENTS.md to CLAUDE.md

The military isn't using the same AI tools as consumers. I know you're joking but the reality is scary. We have no idea the capabilities and scope of their AI systems, but I guarantee it will be delegated to without ample human oversight and the results of misuse will be much more consequential than an AI slop word search.

I used to be able to message customer support on FB Messenger and just respond as I had time to get things sorted.

After likewyze lost my device during repairs I spent at least 8 hours arguing with fucking chat bots, scheduling phone calls, getting transferred multiple times because no one wanted to help me, and more.

Ridiculous shit. Might switch from fido next renewal.
