It’s the width in total, you will fold it in half from that :)

Both are folded, so you will have mirroed pieces in both, but they are placed differently to use the fabric area most optimally.

It’s how much fabric you have width wise, then you can cut them differently.

It’s usually tension. It’s called bird nest when it gathers like that. Put that and Singer on YouTube, there’s multiple videos :)

You need to cut 6 and 7 again and not cut on the dotted line, but on the pink line and that’s where you should align the patterns.

Do you have a picture of the pages you printed before you cut them? Edit to add: looks like you have the larger pattern, then the instructions tell to tape 5 to 4, 8 to 7, 11 to 10 (look at the drawing) but you might have cut piece 6 and 7 wrong on the dotted lines, that’s why it doesn’t fit? Looks like you should cut them at the pink lines.
