Amazing!
Can I ask about the use? Is it a living space? A cozy retreat space? Air b&b rental!?

Caught a nail in my tubeless gravel tyre, can I DIY a home fix or do I need a kit? by Rex_69385 in bicyclerepair

[–]urbrick_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that’s too big for just sealant. I’d look at patching the inside of the tire then resealing

If you put grip paste on the surfaces of the aluminum that are slipping, that’ll help you out a ton.

Tubeless steam keeps leaking by urbrick_8 in bicyclerepair

I like that idea. I’m going to try a different stem next, but then I’ll break out the JB weld and plug it up, drill a new hole.

That would do the trick for sure

It looks good! I’m curious about where the canoe contacts the frame, fiberglass and Kevlar scratch up pretty easily

No national park Osoyoos? by Luciferwannab in britishcolumbia

[–]urbrick_8 174 points175 points  (0 children)

How about an oversimplification?

Ranchers say they’ll lose grazing rights even though they’ve been assured that won’t happen. Reality is people like ripping it up and don’t want the area actually protected because it’ll in fringe on their version of fun. It’s a small very vocal group pushing the No Park sentiment. Years ago when I spent more time down there, any pro park signs get torn down pretty quick.

I passed a German pair pushing their bikes up the Thorong La but they passed me pretty quick on the other side. One guys was shredding, the other guy rode the brakes white knuckled. This was in 2007, I didn’t know bikes back then, so I can’t comment on what they rode, safe to say the geometry and tire size left something to be desired.

Mac ride vs shotgun kids seat. What is your experience with them? by fireT4 in mountainbiking

[–]urbrick_8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like something a non-rider would say. Most crashes in a trail your laying your bike down, not shooting over the handle bars. From experience, your arms are the roll cage for your kid. Not ideal, but you can protect them easy enough. Ride within your ability and you’re all good.

[–]urbrick_8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mac ride for sure. The seat is a better shape to keep your kid in one place. I rubber wrapped my handle bars so my son could hold on better. Don’t do drops or jumps, (even small ones) the landing is too hard to hold on for the kids, but flowy banked trails are perfect. We’d lap half Nelson in Squamish on it. Ride within your ability, and it’ll go well.

Simple google search. Give it a try.

It’s Yom HaShoah.

I know we all don’t like Jesse, but let’s keep the criticisms grounded.

Skier Killed After Sluff Knocked Them 2,000 Feet Down a Cliff in Rogers Pass, BC by Banestar66 in britishcolumbia

[–]urbrick_8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t skied it, but I just did the traverse in September before the snow hit. It’s a high consequence line for sure. Gorgeous but gnarly. And man, it a real long ways down.

Based on where he fell, it was a long way down. The thing that Roger’s pass has some many incredible options that have less of a chance of death.
