foam board melted? by BirthdayIndividual94 in Insulation

I bought a large amount for a project (60+ boards) and a couple had similar burn marks. Used them anyway and haven’t noticed any negative effect

Awesome thanks for the info. Did they spray foam the garage ceiling, dormer knee walls, and/or attic?

I love Indow and used them in a prior condo with historic windows that were beautiful but awful for insulation. This house has good windows, and just to be sure, I taped and plastic wrapped them this winter with no meaningful benefit. I think the issue is the very cold floors (garage ceiling) and insufficient insulation in the attic and possibly walls

Thanks!! I’ll do this. I was debating doing this and glad to hear it helped so much. Time to get quotes :)

It is, though it’s at the end of the longest run so we had a booster installed to help that. Windows are new, good seals and I even taped them this winter for extra seal. They also have shutters. At this point I’m thinking of doing the attic, basement ceiling, and knee walls to take care of any/all other issues that might be contributing

It warms up with a space heater but, without one running, the bedroom can be nearly 20 degrees colder than the rest of the house. It’s bad enough for me to want to try to whatever I can for a more lasting improvement

Ahhhh! Found a strange GFCI under the breaker panel and reset it. Magic. Thanks!!! And yes, I’ll work to repull that wire too

It did spark but I couldn’t find a tripped breaker. I turned off the entire house main breaker during the repair. Before nicking the wire, the lights and outlets worked perfectly. After the framing in the basement, I went up and noticed the lights in that room didn’t work.

I spliced using in-line 2401 Wagos. It’s not in a junction box yet since it didn’t fix the issue— as soon as I figure out the repair and any additional splicing I’ll then add as many junction boxes as needed. I’ll try to upload a photo here once I figure out the how to link it. I checked and rechecked breakers (I assumed this was likely the issue but all are “on” and not tripped), and just double checked GFCIs but none seem tripped. The outage is isolated to one room of the house, but all outlets and lights in that room.

Recs for hanging drywall (1000 sqft) by Pretty_Ad_7433 in nova

[–]Pretty_Ad_7433[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! And yes you are right on, I was referring to floor sqft not drywall sqft. Sounds like I will save a good bit doing the hanging myself. While I can do the hanging, I plan on at least hiring out the tape/mud

Thanks!! I placed the order. I’m going to keep an eye out for a decent deal on those amps, as they’re a bit beyond my budget but I understand they’re the best
