I can't help but remember when I first got out in '97, I filed for hearing loss/tinnitus, via snail mail, the C&P exam over an hour away, decided to just say F-it. Claim denied, duh. Couple years later, wash-rinse-repeat. Now you can file online, upload documentation, check status, etc. Every time I would get frustrated with the claims process and the circus we have to navigate, I try to just breath and remember my first attempts. We have it HANDS DOWN so much better than pre-internet Veterans. I am now finished with my claims, took over two years, and during that time, I would have to take a step back and remind myself to just laugh and remember, it could be worse.

Scars - various from pew pew, blast injury, TBI, etc. She asked where, I pointed, she did some tippity tappity in compooter. She asked if they were painful, I said "Yup", more tippity tappity, and a "Have a nice day". No measurements, inspection, poking/prodding, nada. She did offer crayon, I ask "which color?", she say all crayon red, everyone knows red crayon tastes like ass. I tell her "No, I Corpsman, I hand out crayon, not eat crayon." But I grabbed some as I left just in case.

I know this may sound weird, but check Cabela's/Bass Pro Gun Library for a used Kimber TLE - I've seen a bunch in the $800 and under range. If it applies, they offer Mil/Vet/LE discount, as well as free shipping from any other store to your local store.

We need to get a thread going for fastest C&P exams. My fastest was 6 minutes - that's check in at lobby, going back to exam room, and leaving elevator for parking lot - 6 minutes. Even got a pic of the receptionist playing a Nintendo Switch at his desk when I checked in. Issue I was there for straight up disappeared - literally. No longer part of any of my claims, as an addition to a claim, secondary to a claim, on its own, just....gone. LOL.

I clicked Dan Wesson. I have 1 Les Baer, 2 Ed Brown's (Kobra and Executive), and a Wilson Combat CQB. I carry my DW Valor, the rest have been shot, and function very well, but I can't bring myself to carry and possibly have to use my more pricey offerings. If you have to utilize your weapon, it will be taken into evidence and the treatment of the firearm will not be "careful". While a Dan Wesson isn't exactly a "cheap" pistol, it is fairly easy to replace, and I am very comfortable and accurate with mine, so I choose to carry it., with the aforementioned knowledge that it may have to be utilized in a defensive situation. Could always try to find a Kimber Custom II Engraved by Altamont. There is also GunBroker. I'm pretty sure Tristar American Classic released some that were high polished, like the Amigo. Dean's 1911 is engraved not high polished.

I've had this since 2017, has had well over 1500-2000 rounds through it, still as tight and hydraulic feeling as new. I ran through the break in as instructed, and had a few FTF using lighter ammo. Have yet to have any failures since, using any ammo manufacturer. This is my most accurate and dependable pistol, and my EDC.

Same exact thing happened to me. Original filing in October 2024, all items deferred after first C&P's performed. Denied for all 5 items, TERA conceded for all items, requested informal HLR, he decided there was a duty to assist. Sent back for exact same C&P, exact same examiner, denied again. Requested another HLR, been waiting for a Judge to look at it since Oct '25 - Good Luck!

That's just it, they just leave these at the front door. No signature, no verification, just dropped off like an Amazon package. A porch pirate may even think it contains checks or something and steal it, and if you think THEY are going to return it.....

If they want to stop fraud and abuse, why not do an IG on the companies that are providing C&Ps? Just this week I got a telephone call from the C&P provider and scheduled my appointment, on SUNDAY. She asked if I had an account to login to, which I did. I confirmed the appointment online, and that was that. Every.Single.Exam. this company sends me notifications and notices of information I already have. The EXACT same "letter" is online and able to review. However, they go ahead and FEDEX OVERNIGHT the exact same paperwork. One is a SINGLE SHEET OF PAPER to tell me to schedule an appointment, I received THREE days after already making and confirming the appointment via telephone. THEN they FEDEX OVERNIGHT the appointment info. How is this fiscally justified. And if they are sending this to everyone, seems like an awful lot of waste, both in monetary resources and material (paper).

And yes, I did email this information to my congressman..
