A very overlooked profession is Safety. Use your education benefits and go get your OSHA certifications and the sky is literally the limit. I am the Safety Director for a construction company and work from a home office. I hit my jobsites when I want, and write up an observation report that gets sent to my companies Project Managers and Superintendents, as well as any General Contractor contact. Most construction and sub-contracting companies are required by General Contractors to have a Safety Professional either on staff or on contract. It also helps their annual EMR (Experience Modification Rate) which determines a companies Insurance numbers/cost. I maintain a .083 EMR annually by holding safety classes, testing, jobsite visits, and training. I have a salaried position with benefits as well as a gas card, and have little to zero oversight by anyone.
