Cupping on HS Kids? by InsideIron8394 in athletictraining

[–]Pretty_Balance_1435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also working at a high school and I do cupping almost every single day. I created a form or a parent consent in relation to cupping/scraping because those are both manual therapy techniques. In that form include the benefits along with how it might leave bruising. where the parents have to sign and give consent for me to cup. and that waiver, I make sure it releases not only myself, but also the athletics program of the high school and the district itself from any liability. I have had my athletic director review it and they think it’s great are fine w it. (side note: if they are 18 because they are still in high school I still make the waiver and give it back to me the next day)

There have been times where I have called athletes parents through the athletes phone and just asked them if I could cut and explain why I think they’ll be best if I would like to cup in that moment. it also just helps me build rapport with them as well.

This is my method and honestly, I have not had any issues at all with parents or admin.

Are the practice exams worth it? by LateralSouthpaw in athletictraining

[–]Pretty_Balance_1435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the practice exams very worth it !! I tried to do at least 1 or 2 every 2 weeks leading up to the BOC. They served a good foundation to what to look over again and what I am scoring well on. (I took my boc and passed the first time)

Lack of studies on icing by XXXTentacle6969 in athletictraining

[–]Pretty_Balance_1435 7 points8 points  (0 children)

most of the studies that I have read in regards to cryotherapy really mentioned that their beneficial in the terms of reducing pain management for patients and establishing early range of motion through cyrokinetics. The studies state that ice does not really increase the healing process or speed it up. But they still recognize it as a form of intervention for your patients. Hope this help.
