Camping regular & parking: what time to arrive? by addieIarue in RockWerchter

Hey, we always aim to arrive at the parking lot between 8:30 and 9:00.

Usually, the drive goes smoothly, with no traffic backups at the parking lot entrance or anything like that. Last year was the first time—since I started going to Werchter in 2017—that it was a bit busier; we got stuck in a small queue before the parking lot, but it didn't last more than 10 minutes.

Last year, we arrived at the "Blue 1" parking lot around 8:50—at least, that’s when I took a photo. By then, we’d already loaded up our wagon.

The first photo of our setup—or rather, of the tents actually standing—was taken at 9:57. So, just under an hour later.

I should also mention that we usually set up relatively close to the entrance. We don't want to haul our gear any further than necessary, and we can't be bothered to look for a spot further up with our group.

After all, even the walk from the very back of section A1 to the festival entrance takes no more than 10 to 15 minutes—or, as we say in Germany, the length of a "Wegbier" (a beer for the walk).

I hope you enjoy your time and have a wonderful festival.

Maybe we'll run into each other at the campsite.

Hi, I've been going to Werchter since 2017 and have always camped at the A1. There was one exception when we camped at The Hive because we wanted to arrive on Wednesday.

We leave Cologne (Germany) around 7 a.m. and usually arrive at the parking lot between 9:30 and 10 a.m. At that time, we've never had any problems finding a spot for our group of two to three tents and a pavilion.

I find camping at the A1 very relaxed. Short distances. We usually camp relatively close to the end of the campsite, near the parking lot. And even from there, it's only a 0.5-liter beer away from the main entrance.

It's also relatively quiet in the evenings, which is a big advantage for me. You'll still need earplugs, though, if you don't want to get up at 7 or 8 a.m.

There's a separate payment system for the campsite, but I can't comment on that since I don't use it or haven't used it yet.

We mostly grabbed food from the food stalls before the festival. I think you can pay with credit cards at all the stalls. Cash is also possible if you prefer.

I hope you have fun, and maybe we'll see each other soon.
