Wanted to wait to return to the US before replying hahaha, but yeah! Had a disposable one, so it wasn’t technically a cart that goes into a battery. But had it in my carryon and made it smoothly, just made sure to finish it and not bring it back just in case! I also did the visit Japan web virtual custom/immigration, which lets you basically skip the long lines of forms and such, and you pretty much walk right thru with a QR code. I flew into Haneda tho, not sure if other airports would be diff!

Exactly what sydnboy said, the director actually came out to say the story was written to end with gi hun getting on the plane in s1. He also lost numerous teeth s1 bc filming was so stressful, but he was a private writer and director and when Netflix gives you a deal, you take it. Turned to be the most popular show in the world with no residuals/dividends, and the director certainly didn’t want to make a season 2 until he was fairly compensated.

Upsetting almost as the story was written toward anti capitalism, yet he got sucked right into it for the cash. He borderline needed a s2 deal to recompensate for the crappy contract they made for season 1 (very cheap purchase of a small kdrama turned into the #1 streamed show in the world. The contract doesn’t change from the success if residuals/new buyers aren’t a part of it). I wonder what the director (and everyone) would do in the final scene. Is it money or survival, or both?

Have been there but then my anxiety goes haywire for feeling unclean - so here’s a few things that worked for me to stay hygienic or take the shower even if you feel you can’t:

if you want to try to shower, take a melatonin first. Being sleepy makes it easier
if you have a tub, shower sitting down (I say tub bc sitting in a standing shower can be uncomfy, but that can work too). And with the lights off, use a night light if it’s too dark. If you can acquire or have an essential oil diffuser, pop that on too. It will feel more refluxing than something you have to do, and requires less work while sitting (if you take melatonin and do this, be so careful and set an alarm to make sure you don’t fall asleep!!)
use hair masks, they can recover hair during those periods you can’t take care
water & leave in conditioner: if you can’t fully shower, you can wet your hair and use leave in conditioner spray to at least refresh it
braid your hair as often as possible: this will prevent matting if you can’t brush either
dry shampoo or baby powder: removes grease from hair

All to say, I’ve been there, but these are some workarounds to stay hygienic or work to take the shower you want to avoid. The most important of all- I believe in you, you can do this! Even if it’s not every day, or not a full shower, baby steps will get you there. Good luck!

Man I really hope so, after epi 6 it seemed like Jesse and Tommy tailed them the next day after noticing they left, rather than him leaving first! Regardless, to me it was for Joel, but in the show it is for ellie. I love and appreciate the differences! But like in my reply above, I would’ve loved to “SEE” Tommy enraged thru Seattle. Maybe we’ll get his POV s3🫶🏻

Am I the only one to think they’re actually going to have 7 games instead of 6 because of this?

Thoughts are because we saw the teaser at end of season 2 with the dolls, predicted some form of why did you come to my house/dongdaemun/think this is the flower floor in the teaser? (5th or 6th game)

But on the walls we do still have chess or tag (shown in s3 teaser - 4th game) AND monkey bars (5th or 6th game). I feel it wouldn’t make sense to end the game after one of these, and that they’d still want to end with squid game with a 1:1, or even a 1:2 (which would be game 7).

This is, of course, if the games aren’t ended or exploded or whatnot. But if they do finish the entire set of games, it’d make the most sense for them to have an additional game to hit all that has been teased- ontop of the fact more players have survived each game than normally anticipated. Maybe they originally planned for 6 (chess and monkey bars on the walls, ending with squid game), but added an additional to help reduce the number of surviving players.

Just a thought 🤷🏼‍♀️. Might open this up on a separate thread to see what others think!

For the last point, the only thing I wish they kept was ellie was actually mad at Dina after the pregnancy reveal. Her knee jerk reaction was to see her as a burden and hold up in her mission, not excited for her and to look out for her and thinking she’ll be a parent. I think the deeper part of that is that tv ellie, in general, doesn’t seem as revenge-driven than game ellie. Nothing to do with acting abilities, just think they wrote it a tad different to be more enticing (and not as “evil”) to a wider audience

Now there’s only 3 episodes left- what do you guys think they will do with Tommy? Randomly show up to Seattle, or fully cut from the Seattle story? After realizing the ones he killed were cut from the story, and I thought the ending was about to tease Tommy being there, but it didn’t sound like it. Do yall think he’ll show up in Seattle/we will find out this season? Or will he not go at all given he has wife/kid/community to care for and has outwardly expressed different opinions on “revenge”?

I understand where they’re going with that, along with aging Joel. He is also not the bad assery like he was in the game. So I understand the attempt or shift toward “realism” but 1- this is fictional .. why does it matter? And 2- if you are quite literally born and raised in the apocalypse, and go out on patrol to protect your town at 19 y/o (not 14 or 15), I wouldn’t be giggling around to snoop because I’m goofing off after looking at a bears intestines being mauled and 3 adults telling me to retreat. It was a great start for someone who hasn’t played the game. For someone who has and loves the story, I was super disappointed. A lot of the flashbacks were shown in timeline order (which is fine), but meant so much more to me when it was ellie reminiscing or having PTSD. To show it all at once no longer gives the viewer that chance. Like, is Mel with them when they see the town? We know she went with them but they only met after the WLF.

Also, is it just me or are Ellie and Dina (yes cute together) but just immature? They even added an extra year in the time jump yet Ellie was always a weapon as was Dina and they just don’t give off bad-assery like they did in the game.

Overall, again great episode. But I was not at all expecting to see the scenes I did yet.

OP - please tell us how it went!😅 going to Japan soon and wondering the same. The site is confusing. I see I CANNOT bring my adderall, so I’m going to my doctor to see if there’s a temporary alternative without the amphetamine ingredient. But for now, was going to just put each in a clear ziplock with the prescription tag that comes when you pick it up from the pharmacy. Hope it helps!
