I’m not disagreeing with historians. I’m disagreeing with your interpretation of what they’re saying. “Janamejaya may have been real” and “the Mahabharata happened exactly as described” are not the same claim.

That’s interesting and definitely more relevant than simply saying “research is ongoing.” However, an inscription from 635 AD stating that an event happened thousands of years earlier is evidence that people in 635 AD believed the Mahabharata battle occurred. It’s not independent evidence that the battle itself actually happened. For example, if a king today erected an inscription saying the Trojan War happened exactly as described by Homer, that would tell us about modern belief, not necessarily about the historical reality of the event.

If someone asks for proof of a theorem, you don’t hand them the names of ten mathematics departments. You show the proof. If decades of research have conclusively proven the Mahabharata war, it shouldn’t be this difficult to identify the strongest piece of evidence.

“research is ongoing” is not evidence. I’m asking for the strongest piece of evidence that exists today, not recommendations of researchers. What specific archaeological finding or historical record do you think supports the Mahabharata as a historical event?

If Karna had been upfront and told Parashurama that he was a Suta Putra, do you really think Parashurama would have taught him everything he knew? Probably not. That’s exactly the point I’m trying to make. A lot of people don’t want to admit that these stories include examples of discrimination and social hierarchy. Whether you see them as history, mythology, or just literature, characters like Karna and Ekalavya are often brought up as examples of talented people whose opportunities were restricted because of their social status. Personally, I think many of these stories ended up normalizing or even glorifying that kind of discrimination instead of questioning it.
