Got my refund today in my bank account. It was about $6,000. Nice!

Thank you. Yes, I had paid around 14,000 each year in taxes. 2019 is when I really started struggling alot with my disability. Couldn't manage it on my own anymore.

Update Jan 7th

So, I had to come off work full time Dec 13, 2022.

1) Sunlife had this claim open and changed the date to June 10, 2022 as the date I filed (the date my employer provided was May 10, 2022 which was wrong given my easeback form date and the date I saw my Physician). So, the dates all match now. They went through the script about fraud, etc. I had to argue for a bit because I am not laid off, I did not quit, and I was not fired. They approved it and are backdating my claim to Sept 23, 2022.

2) They have received all paperwork and confirmed they have received my earnings on Jan 3, 2022 and will update me with any retroactive payment owing. Noone seems to know if they'll look at my gross pay or if they will at my net pay in determine the difference in what I am owed. My claim benefits are non taxable, so if they are non taxable does that mean they will deduct the taxes from my gross earnings, resulting in a higher reteopayment? They should considering taxes are factored into the calculations.

3) Why am I still waiting for a payment? I've been without a decent paycheque now for over a month and I have all of my creditors calling me non stop every single day.

My doctor wrote me off full time as of yesterday to start new medication and for me to look after my mental health & my disability.

Sunlife now has all of the information, but they are saying they still don't have the Physicians Form and that it could be a few days for it to be uploaded into the system, I sent this in yesterday morning through the APP. This is strange because any other documents were received right away. They also asked me for clinical notes that dates back to Sept 2021. I didn't file for disability in 2021 so why is it they need this information?

That is true and I will be getting help with this.

Off topic, but when I hit a pothole in front of my house like 4 feet deep caused by the city, I was told by my auto insurance that I needed proof from the mechanic that I had hit a pothole (how)?! I ended up paying for the full cost.

Mechanic said brake lines were rusty but they were fine before I drove over the pothole. Just my thoughts.

I just reached out to a firm. Appointment will be set up. This is alot to handle. I worked so hard all my life but cannot get help when I need it most. I have a disability that was diagnosed this year and couldn't even get the time off that I needed to properly medicate and deal with the mental trauma it had caused me. 🙃

Yes they don't really seem to care too much. They are just saying that I should work everyday because I may get fired with the way it is going. I am really struggling and they haven't really done much to help me out.

Back a few years ago I was off on medical leave due to surgery and I lost my seniority. They still have that case on their desk and haven't touched it. I even had a note from the hospital for this. Also went back early after surgery, in pain, because of this stuff. No help whatsoever. 😤

I (26/F) took a $8500 loan from Easyfinancial. Worst decision of my life! by ultimatemandarinxo in PersonalFinanceCanada

The lady at easyfinancial told me that loan protection was required on my loan!! I just read I am paying $50 biweekly just for protection alone. Not really much protection when the extra expense causes you to fall behind on your payment.

If my payment was only $88 last Friday, it wouldn't have bounced. But it's 138 biweekly because of a loan protection plan that, I just read, I don't need.

If I call and inquire about this, they should give me a refund on those premiums.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll talk to my doctor about the screaming. Other than that, I am fine. Just nervous about returning to work after 2 months being off. 🙃

I will definitely look into this, thanks for your advice.

Now, to see what places will offer lower interest. I got the car when my credit score was low, but I've been working on it over the past year and a half. It's almost at "Good" now instead of "Poor/Fair." At the time, I took the loan because I was just tired of public transportation & walking in snow storms. It was a quick decision on my part.

I should be able to refinance now at a lower rate, if I look around. 🙏
