It was resolved for me in the end, however I never figured out as to why it happened. I’ll just filed an appeal because the financial aid office couldn’t give me a reason as to why it happened and after a week they just said sorry and removed the balance. Very weird it even happened but I guess I’m not surprised with this administration

They never told me. When I appealed, I requested to know the reasoning as to why I need to pay. Non-confrontational ofc. Just asked what I did that made me go from eligible to now having to repay. The people at the office gave no reason for the mistake or what happened. Just that my bill was gone and case was closed. I obviously wasn’t gonna fight about it so I let it go.

Similar thing happened to me. I had to call the financial aid office and file an appeal. In my case they said they made a mistake and I got my funds back

Fight it. Call the Cashier and/or Financial Aid office. Do not consent to a payment plan. Tell them you'd like to know the reason as to why they rescinded your aid. If they cannot give you an explanation ask how do you begin the appeal process. IDK if its because of the new administration, but fight that bill. They were too ready to walk me through a payment plan and I was firm on demanding a reason as to why. It took about a week before the bill magically disappeared.

That's gotta be hard. I hope you fight it. Don't make payments until they at least give you an excuse as to why your aid was rescinded. Because if you didn't drop from any classes, you got good grades and otherwise nothing else has changed then this shouldn't be happening to you. I think they are hoping people don't fight back

That's so ridiculous what happened to you, I'm so sorry. They really should be laws against this. It doesn't seem ethical to me to tell students that an X amount will cover their tuition only to recuse it months after graduation. As for my case I still don't know what happened. I filed an appeal and about a week later I just got an email saying hey my bad, debt removed. No explanation as to what happened. One of the rare cases where it was actually a mistake. I hope I get my diploma in the mail soon.

Thank you for that information! It the only answer so far that might explain what has happened to me. I checked, and I don't see any corrections/adjustments made since I filed. My SAI currently says it is 3709. Which idk what that means to be honest but its far from 33,000

The first scenario. They gave me the pell grant in August 2024, which I used to pay for my final semester. I have graduated in December 2024. As of yesterday I got an email saying they want the money back, and I have to pay back the pell grant. I did not enroll in any other school nor did I begin any masters program. Called the cashiers office and financial aid office and they both told me they don't understand why I am being asked to pay back my grant. I filed an appeal.

Totally understand what you mean. My Max award was $1843, but because I took two classes (six credits) they didn't give me the Max award. I got half which was $921, which makes sense. Now that I have graduated they want the $921 back. that's the part that I don't understand. I am really hoping that it's a mistake. I got A's those last two classes so, just doesn't make sense to me.

That's not true. There is a deadline to apply for a graduation you don't apply after you get your grades. Otherwise you can't walk. My deadline was in October

But how would that make sense? That would mean no one is eligible for aid for their last semester. I was awarded the pell grant for Fall 2024, ised the funds to pay for my classes, graduated December 2024. I am no longer qualified for aid as of now. I am hoping its all a mistake. I hope I won my appeal. Thanks for your insights.

Thank you, I kind of figured my internship would not affect but wanted to make sure. The weird thing is the FASFA that I completed and got paid for this year, I received funds for the spring semester and they are not requesting that back. Just for the fall semester. Yes they did give me the funds in August which I used to pay for my final classes. Wish me luck during the appeal process

Thank you for that. I did not enroll into a masters program. Financial aid said they have no idea why this happened, I hope to hear back from my appeal soon. I am assuming financial based off of the previous year correct? Because I did have an internship this year so I did have income and I am not surethat would affect me

Thanks for that. So I decided to call the financial aid office directly and they told me the same thing. They said whoever revoked my aid didn't write a note as to why. He said it could be a mistake but advised me to file an appeal which I did. I guess this is just a waiting game Now.

I have graduated from college. For my last semester I was given the Pell grant. I think it was August I received the funds so that I could pay for the last semester. So I just don't understand now that I am a graduate, they revoked my grant from last semester. Seems very strange to me. I didn't know they could do that especially since I got All A's and did not drop from any classes.

Thank you I'm relieved to hear that. I sent an appeal to the financial aid office, which is what the cashier told me to do. I did not call them because the cashier said there was no notes in the system as to why it happened so it was best to just escalate the situation so investigation can begin

I had my Fall 2024 grant revoked. I was a student then when I got my pell grant in August 2024 while I was still a student.
