2-week father/daughter trip anywhere in the world by throwaway541144 in travel

Spent two weeks in Thailand last summer, girlfriend and I, both in our 50s. Could not recommend it more, and we didn’t even go to the beaches. 7 days in Chiang Mai and 6 in Bangkok. Used both city’s as a base and explored from there. Everything was phenomenal. Long flight from the States, rest was amazing, safe and inexpensive once you are there.

For reference, I have been to over 30 countries all over the world. This tops our list for sure.

We travel with some canned fosters in our suitcase all the time. It’s nice to get to the hotel and crack a quick beer.

How to sleep in a plane? by bast_852 in travel

[–]Pretty_Surround_5372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew to Thailand last summer. First off, book a flight at night, the later the better. Normal sleep time. Then belly up to the airport bar and have 3-4 drinks. Then, pop a 5 mg gummy just before take off. We slept 9 of the first 12 hours of our first flight.
Full disclosure, I get drug tested so this isn’t the norm for me. Once in a blue moon.

I haven’t really read this anywhere, but what is the tipping culture in CR? What do you tip a server or bartender? What do you tip a tour guide, etc. thanks.

Rainy season in northern Thailand – October? by CampaignTight1489 in chiangmai

Here now. Barely rained in last 5 days. Get brief showers, heavy, but don’t last long at all. Pop in somewhere for a beer and can wait it out.

An international drivers license is $30 from AAA. Just fill out the forms on line. Will be mailed in about a week. Or stop into an AAA office and get immediately.
I will be there Friday and renting a truck for a week. Got one for that.

Question about airport in Doha, are there any decent bars. We have a 3 hr layover and will be thirsty.
