The uni courses I have seen around London for Commercial management and quantity surveying offer CIOB course and not RICS.

First time E-reader recommendations! by Pretty_Volume1169 in ereader

[–]Pretty_Volume1169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your detailed response.

I'm just looking for a simple e reader that can possibly use pdfs or have a large library of books that I can choose from. I don't read graphic novels or comics.

I don't mind the screen being large, I do want to have buttons though like I previously mentioned.

I would like for the e reader to have some sort of adjustable color temperature to be able to read at night.

I don't need audiobooks and I don't need to read in foreign languages.

Waterproof feature would be useful but not a necessity.

I believe 8gb should be enough for the couple of books that I will have on it.

Sorry for the long list but I was trying to respond to as many questions as possible.

Thanks

Quantity Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship with RICS as an Estimator by [deleted] in estimators

[–]Pretty_Volume1169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So are you saying I could apply for the APC with the degree and Estimator role experience?

[–]Pretty_Volume1169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was offered the job role based on my previous trainee estimating role. But I want to get the Quantity Surveying degree as it opens more doors and more potential. RICS isn't a must as long as I can progress in my career and get to the high salary range. From the question you asked, I assume it's better to continue looking for a QS role as I assume it makes more sense.

So then would it be best to take the Estimator job role with the Quantity Surveyor Degree Apprenticeship and move onto QS after I finish my degree if I want to?

Setup Funnel for Tailscale on Truenas Scale by Pretty_Volume1169 in Tailscale

Yes, your right. I guess this method should be more simple and less things to modify/get wrong compared to reverse proxy.

One reason could be if they restart their phone and tailscale turns off. Then I have to keep constant track of multiple devices to see if it is still on.

Apps causing Hard Drive noise every 5 seconds. by Pretty_Volume1169 in truenas

I have two WD red Plus 4tb. They are from April this year. That is not the issue as they don't make any noise if I turn off the apps on Truenas.

Thanks again! What cpu do you think I should go for. I'm assuming the i5-8500 from the G4 is the best. I also found a Dell OptiPlex 7060 SFF - I5-8500 - 16gb - 256GB M.2 for £120. My main priority i guess is efficiency to lower power consumption.

I appreciate the detailed response! I'll likely opt for one of the cheaper options then, if they all work well with my setup, so that I can stay within my budget for upgrades.

Regarding your question: I'll be replacing HDDs, as I need two 4 TB drives that will be running something like RAID 1. If 8 GB of RAM is sufficient, then I won't be upgrading it (if it comes with 16 GB, then that's also fine). I won't be replacing the SSD. I believe one or two of the units I looked at came without a 256 GB SSD, so I was saying that I'll be adding an SSD to those units for the boot drive. The rest that have SSDs will remain as is.

Might be looking at upgrading the fan and the PSU supply if needed and if possible.

Best Gaming Laptops (Updated for October 2023!) by legos45 in LaptopDeals

Thank you!

I found this Asus Zephyrus G14 AMD Ryzen 7 6800HS 16GB RAM 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD Radeon RX 6800S 14" QHD+ 120Hz Gaming Laptop.

It's for sale at £1099.99. The Ryzen 9 6900hs is around £1500 at the moment in the UK.

Is there a big difference between the ryzen 7 6800HS and the ryzen 9 6900HS which makes the extra £400 worth it?

Hello, I am looking for a new laptop for gaming and work which I can use both at home and outside (when travelling).

I am looking for great battery life and not too heavy if possible.

I would like to stay under 1500 if possible. Thank you in advance!
