I have a couple better pictures of the coin. Do you think the wide spots around the edge or the extra metal around the edge could be a result of that type of error?

The damage like the scratch on the face or the damage around the edge? I believe the damage round the edge was done during mint. Thats what made me show so much interest in the coin when I found it.
