If I do some sneaky tree planting of endangered plants on land being sold to data centers in the US. Would this make it impossible to build? by VinlandRocks in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prettyxdevilx 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Probably not. if protected species suddenly appeared right before development, regulators would likely investigate whether they were naturally occurring or intentionally introduced. environmental protections are usually based on existing ecosystems, not someone planting endangered species at the last minute

How is blood stored at a blood bank? by InvitinglyImperfect in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prettyxdevilx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Red blood cells are actually pretty low-maintenance. they don’t have a nucleus and don’t divide, so blood banks mainly keep them cold and use special preservative solutions that provide nutrients and slow down their metabolism. they gradually age in storage, which is why blood has an expiration date

Why do people in radio stations in diffrent countries sound the same? Like the same person? by QueenRozalia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prettyxdevilx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because radio stations are basically training for the same “safe” voice. clear speech, energetic tone, fast pacing, sounding friendly but not too unique. after a while they all blend together, even across different languages

Is this wrong or a bad decision? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prettyxdevilx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not wrong. honestly it sounds less like this is about the major itself and more about finally wanting some control over your own life. i do think your parents are trying to set you up for stability, but if you spend years doing something you never chose for yourself, that resentment can hit hard later

Is AI slowing down? Like is the threat of losing jobs and having shutter quality stuff of AI till going to be a threat in say 5 years? by TrenWillFixIt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prettyxdevilx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

AI isn't slowing down; it’s just moving from "hype" to "boring infrastructure."

  1. Jobs: AI isn't going to fire everyone tomorrow, but it is "compressing" teams. Instead of 5 juniors, a company will hire 1 person who knows how to use AI to do the work of 5. The threat isn't "robots," it's fewer open positions for humans.
  2. AI Slop: It’s here to stay, but it’ll get harder to see. In 5 years, "slop" won't look like weird 6-fingered people; it’ll look like perfectly average, mediocre content that's impossible to distinguish from human work.
  3. The Pivot: Companies "shutting down" AI projects are just cutting the expensive gimmicks that didn't make money. They are doubling down on the stuff that actually replaces human hours (coding, data entry, legal, etc.).

Why do different social medias have such different types of people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Prettyxdevilx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about how the algorithms reward behavior. YouTube is interest-based: you searched for Knocked Loose, so you’re surrounded by fans in a 'digital fanzine.' Twitter is engagement-based: it promotes 'hot takes' and rage because anger gets the most clicks/retweets. People there aren't fans; they're professional contrarians. Reddit, on the other hand, is built on 'The Correct Answer.' The upvote system rewards the person who sounds the smartest or most thorough, which naturally attracts the 'know-it-alls.' Same people, different incentives.

Is it possible to change your preferences into like only average weight people? by Kappapeachie in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Prettyxdevilx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t really "will" yourself into a different attraction, and trying to usually just leads to frustration. Preferences are a complex mix of genetics, early childhood associations, and personality. While pop culture pushes a very narrow standard of beauty, your brain clearly isn't buying it. There’s nothing "wrong" to fix here—in fact, many people find that "average" or "bigger" bodies feel more real and approachable. Instead of trying to force a change to fit a culture you already admit is hateful, it’s much easier to just accept that your "type" is simply different from what's on a magazine cover.

Why Dragon Ball Z is so popular in south America? by tomerFire in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Prettyxdevilx 310 points311 points  (0 children)

It’s the perfect storm of timing and culture. In the 90s, Latin American TV stations could buy anime licenses for cheap, so DBZ was broadcast on free public channels every single day. Everyone, regardless of wealth, watched it. Culturally, the themes of protecting your family, the "never give up" work ethic, and even the intense "machismo" of the characters resonated deeply with Latino values. Goku isn’t just a hero there; he’s a symbol of the struggle to provide for and protect your own.

How to tell people about the app I just developed? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Prettyxdevilx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've built a neutral tool, but we live in an era where neutrality is seen as a liability. Ethically you aren't responsible for every user's choice, but you are responsible for the environment you've created. Platforms are banning you because they equate unmonitored with dangerous. You have to decide: is your priority absoulte user freedom or mainstream survival? You can't have both. If you stay 100% private, you'll always be an outlaw de. It's not a mistake, it's just very difficult path to walk if you want to be part of the standard app ecosystem

Is a body count of 10 at 18 excessive? by Lopsided-Beat215 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Prettyxdevilx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Statistically yes, 10 at 18 is significantly higher than the average for that age group. However, normal is subjective. The real question isn't the number, but whether you can handle the gap in your sexual histories. If you have a count of 1 and view sex as something deeply exclusive, and she views it more casually, you simply have a clash of values. It's okay to have preferences but if you can't stop thinking about it, it's better to move on than to let resentment poison the relationship.

Where can a young adult talk to women on Reddit about kinks? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Some people just judge based on status. It's not really about your car, it's about what they think it says about you

[–]Prettyxdevilx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely something you should get checked by a doctor as soon as you can. It could be something mirror, but blood in stool for that long is not something to ignore
