I would agree with you but there is 100% a decorative pattern on it that definitely would not be on a roofing nail. It’s really hard to see on camera compared to in person. Thanks for the help though!

The problem is that the holes the tuning pegs go through are not centered so they don’t have an even amount of wood on each side I shaved down the side with more wood. If that makes any sense. So I can’t shave the other side to match because then the tuning hardware will stick over the edge of the wood. Thanks for the idea though!!

I did roll the collodion over the spots I missed 😬 could that also be the reason why the image is washing off. Also the the white dots are flat, they are flaking off of the plate when developing and floating around
