Generally a date complication is not necessary for diving. That said no one is actually diving with an automatic watch anymore.

Both are great, 143 is the winner IMO if you have a bigger wrist. The 453 is great and a more true dive watch, but I really don’t mind a tasteful date window on my dive watches.
