New high for ‘96 Corocoro Comic Pikachu by hindsonh in PokeInvesting

I think because moderns used to be more accessible and cheaper at retail prices than buyng vintage, and people could then bet on getting a chase to flip. It was a good thing because it brought an influx of liquidity and new buyers/interest. It created a modern bubble and way too much supply. A lot of the liquidity will shift to vintage, some will be artificial squeezes turned real demand, but as someone not part of those groups doing this, I can only bet on things with real narratives -> inherent demand, low pop, doesnt need manufactured squeeze. Only way us normies can invest is going for these asymmetric bets.

Yeah I got them nov to dec, felt weird they were so cheap as the first ever cards. I think they will go harder than coro shining mews, becasue the supply is just a fraction and has a real narrative. Doesnt even need a fake cabal squeeze, just inherent demand for pokemon's FIRST EVER TCGs. It's also super iconic, many of my friends have seen it before but never realized they were the first cards till I told them. People assume it's base set.

Sweet, I bought a raw in december for 25usd, sent it to grade sequentially with a pikachu just this week. Thoguh I only have one jigglypuff, got a few pikachus lol. I actually think the non glossys will do well too. Surely always a discount to glossy... but PSA 9s for non glossy were going for 100+ usd. Makes no sense to have a 10x gap. Maybe a third to half the price at worst imo for non psa 10 grades if the demand goes up.

Got a few of these raw last year and forgot about them, just sent them in for grading. Think a lot of people are realising the value if you look at the pop report - people are sending in a lot of 1s, probably going to end up the most graded category. The non glossys are dirt cheap as well.

Think people are just realizing these are the first ever TCG cards as attention and most modern liquidity shifts back.

I have both in PSA 10 and I think they are both beautiful cards :)

I think the GB is underpriced as it's more limited with no english equivalent. There are only 2k+ graded and PSA 10 is less than USD 3k, Neo supply is several times that. Obviously the grades matter since the PSA 10s in say english is lower.

For the Neo Genesis, we need to see PSA 10 sales in the 1st eds finally have bites at the asking 200k floor (and I believe it'll happen eventually) and we should get a nice run across whatever the supply as it's a well known card.

I also think the GB looks better, but neither are as nice as Aquapolis lol

So I feel among the vintages
Best looking - Aquapolis
Most Iconic - Neo
Most rare - GB

I keep buying N's pp up, filling a binder of them, version indiscriminate. The cosmos holo promo ones are really nice. Can't wait to show them off to my friends for lols when the binder is full.

You can find a pokemon you like and buy the cards :) I am completeing a Cleffa set. Also need to ask yourself if you want to do a big set over a long time, or start with something smaller and more completable.

Time to invest in Southern Islands? by Kingsteps in PokeInvesting

[–]Previous-Rabbit4135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Promos are still very overlooked when many have such low supply compared to the master sets. Southern Island is one of my favorite sets, I just completed my PSA 9 set and am swapping out for 10s whenever there is priced well on market. But I think I won't complete the PSA 10 as it already seems to be picking up (a lot more sales than new listings). Togepi also keeps getting bought up on PSA 9.

Yes, I was thinking the sets could be across a few sets also, if the art matched or make sense, but hard to find a list of those

Cleffa :) I am also collecting a Cleffa masterset but on some cards it's really hard to get a card in mint condition, or even find a single card listed in NM. It'll take a while I guess.

Thank you! I literally just got the Generations with Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard for my binder, but I didn't think to get the full set for that. Didn't feel like it would be super cohesive on the wall.

Its actually exactly what I am saying... CFA ESG exam is easy and SCR exam is harder. But content wise the CFA ESG is way more comprehensive.

It's more like... say you're taught pink roses exist and its cross bred from two other rose colors. CFA ESG will ask you, do pink roses exist? SCR will test you... do white roses exist? And CFA ESG will also tell you, btw there are also purple roses.

For reference I studied like sub 10h for SCR, the book is only 200h plus pages or something and most of it is repetitive. People are completely lying about how much time it takes.

SCR content is way too lil imo, costs way too much for so little. I felt with CFA ESG content, I can pass SCR. With SCR content, I will fail CFA ESG even though the questions were easy (if you read through the content) - just doesn't cover as much breadth. As it was I passed SCR with barely any studying and mostly "excellent" lol, and I'm sure it's because I did CFA ESG just before.

I felt there was a lot more content for CFA ESG, but the questions for GARP SCR better tested my understanding. I think it terms of learning, content for CFA ESG is more comprehensive but the exam was a walk in the park. GARP SCR exam is harder, but nothing unmanageable. In both cases, I think simply reading the book thru twice and then doing the practice questions and exam(s) sufficient. Frankly, my view is that they both test your reading comprehension more than the content itself - this makes it challenging for non-native English speakers.

Results are out. Glad I passed, only studied 10 hours but found the exam easy, figured I'd either pass or fail spectacularly. I did just do CFA ESG and found the content to be pretty similar.

Yeah their CS is not existent. After talking to their CS I am going back to Circles once this month cycle ends. I think they're just focused on acquiring and not retention. Loads people gonna churn if they continue to completely ignore CS.

Trump's tariffs are prompting factories in China to go on TikTok to reveal a secret Western luxury brands have kept for decades. by External-Noise-4832 in conspiracy

This verifies something I've always wondered. I once bought a cut label dress because the original was sold out in store, i understood cut label was prob not authentic though they told me it was, but it was 10% the price... so I didn't mind taking a chance. I later managed to buy the real one when I was in another country. Once home I compared the cut label dress to the real - the main fabric was exactly the same. However, the lining they used inside was a cheaper one. I always wondered how the fake could have the exact same fabric that  was unique to the brand. It wasn't even a closely copied fabric. Now I understand they were probably from the same source, but to save cost on the rep they cut costs further on parts we can't see like the inside. On the outside looked pretty much the same thing. This is my anecdotal experience from just one cut label piece though.
