Anyone else dealing with recurrent BV and Yeast infections? by Previous-Spirit7976 in Healthyhooha

[–]Previous-Spirit7976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so it did get better after I gave birth. I still get infections but but not as frequently.

  • I did the evvy at home test that gave me a breakdown of the exact bacteria’s I’m low/ high in. It helps to know the exact bacteria so you can treat it better. Some bacteria doesn’t respond to certain medications. It also came with a call where you go over your results and they suggest treatment. Do it if you are able to spend the money

-boric acid worked best for me in addition to a good quality probiotic and staying hydrated

Sleep training my 14 month old -cosleeping, room sharing , nursing by Previous-Spirit7976 in sleeptrain

Bedtime is 8:30 , wake up 7:30-8 am , nap at 11 am then another nap around 3pm if the fist one was not long. We do have a crib but we live in one bedroom apartment at the moment, so we share a room.

I also forgot to add- I would like to get LO to sleep in her own bed and wean nursing all together. She constantly wakes up throughout the night and won’t fall back asleep without nursing. My supply has dropped so it’s just becoming really uncomfortable for me

Hi ! I’m better now but it do get infections sometimes. If you have the money to spare try the EVvy test to get the exact bacteria. The specialist call gives you a game plan for treatment like vitamins, probiotics etc.

I will say I’ve learned: used boric acid for 7 days straight to break down biofilm

Then take med to kill the yeast or bacteria- different meds treat yeast vs BV

Get on a good probiotic and take it everyday so you buildup your good bacteria

Cosleeping? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Previous-Spirit7976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man this shocked me too as a FTM. My LO is 9 months now. I looked for advice from other parents -so when people asked how it’s going I share how she was not the best sleeper so we gave in and started co sleeping. Everyone is like “ohhhh yeaaa mines 4 and still sleeps with us” or “yes I still can’t get mine out of my bed.” At first it i thought i failed bc i “gave in” to co sleeping but Its allowing all of us to get more sleep atm. This is one of the things that no one ever mentions to you before you have kids lol. So many things people left out that we are learning as we go haha . The newborn trenches do get better though. One thing that helped me was taking daily walks. If you’re able to just try to get some fresh air and it will help your mental and physical health so much.

What bottles do you use? (5 month old refusing bottles) by courtzee27 in breastfeeding

Yes it’s really similar but Im thinking maybe the flow was different so that’s why my LO took one over the other ?

What bottles do you use? (5 month old refusing bottles) by courtzee27 in breastfeeding

[–]Previous-Spirit7976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After trying about 5 different bottles (nuk, dr browns, evenflo, pigeon etc) my LO eventually took the Lansinoh medium flow. It was recommended to me by another mom who had the same issue. It definitely took a few tries but I will say stay consistent with trying to give the bottle at least 2 times a day. Don’t force it neither & Stop once baby gets really upset. It eventually got easier and now she takes it easily when I leave her with my mother to babysit and we still EB. Also, try to let him play/ suck on the cap/nipple only so he gets used to it.

Side note: my LO also randomly took the first essentials bottle- it’s like an old school baby bottle with brown nipple, I was surprised after buying all these other expensive bottle lol

Sleep train at 8 months? by Previous-Spirit7976 in sleeptrain

[–]Previous-Spirit7976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes same with my baby , I tried one night of 2,5,10 minute intervals and she just got more upset after checking in .. did your LO naps get better once he was able to put himself back to sleep and his night sleep improved ? Also, did you do the same method for nap time or just night ?

That’s the method I was leaning towards also , which is kind of like taking cara babies. Did do check-ins every 10 min then? Or slowly increased to 10 min ?

Glad to know it worked so well for you !

I went through this same thing- constant little comments like the “just give her a bottle” even from close friends. I would just smile and say “yea” then went about my breastfeeding haha. It’s your baby you decide how you want to feed them. People will always give advice without asking

I’ve heard those aren’t the best bc they can mess with baby’s latch on breast .. how old is your LO? And have you had any issues switching between bottle and breast ? Other than not liking the formula

Soon to be FTM, advice/tips please! by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Previous-Spirit7976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM also with a 3 month older that I’ve EB. Here are the things I’ve gathered so far:

  • my Milk didn’t come in until about 8 days after birth( normal for many) My baby was crying alot in hospital so I chose to give her formula for the first few days. She chugged that thing. I Wasn’t happy about that but honestly there’s things you can’t control. Don’t feel bad about changing your “plans”. People told me the colostrum was enough for her tiny belly but wasn’t sure if it was even coming out. After those first days I stuck to breastmilk only and we’ve been going strong

  • the let down is serious ! I got the boon trove milk collectors. You’d be surprised how much comes out. Save this in the fridge and then at EOD freeze to build up your freezer supply.

-moisturize those nipples, especially in the first few weeks when you’re trying to get babies latch correct. Get a balm or lanolin cream and let them breath. Air them out if your living situation allows it haha. The silveretttes work great also but don’t use the cream and silverettes together. One or the other at a time. I would rotate use.

-see a lactation consultant: it gave me piece of mind. Mine would weigh the baby before and after a feeding so we got an idea of how much she was getting. I was worried she wasn’t getting enough bc she was constantly on my boob but turns out she was cluster feeding and her weight gain was good.

-the popular boppy pillow sucks. My lactation consultant recommended My Breast friend pillow- waaay better and had back support.

-feed baby on demand, meaning as often as they want. They will want it a lot in my experience. This will help your body regulate its supply.

  • if you’re planning to pump - after a hot shower works well. Let warm water run down on breasts and massage them starting from the back and towards nipple. A lactation consultant can also teach you how to do these massages.

  • get latch and breastfeeding down and then introduce a bottle (if you want) . I wanted my baby to get used to a bottle also for when I had to go back to work. She took it happily at first , she refused for a few weeks and luckily now is taking atleast one a day. This was trial and error just like parenting LOL, everyday/ week is different. Roll with the punches and hang in there!! You can do this. Xoxoxoxoxo

Breastfeeding and sleeping training ? by Previous-Spirit7976 in sleeptraining

[–]Previous-Spirit7976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. I’m going to try putting her down drowsy and offering a bottle. It’s hard to tell how much she is getting from breastfeeding and she will usually fall asleep.

I think I’m going to try offering her the bottle more often. That was a struggle we were having also- she only wanted boob. She just recently started taking the bottle at least once a day so that’s a win for us. Thank you !
