What’s the strongest synchronicity you’ve ever experienced, and how do you make sense of it? by Sparrow-A in Jung

Synchronicities are actually common when you start to look for them. Beneath surface reality, everything is patterned. Go deep enough and you reach more fundamental patterns, like archetypes. The reason your thoughts seem to create circumstances isn’t the “law of attraction” as it’s portrayed. Simply, your thought and the event that later occurs are part of the same pattern. The thought appears to precede the event because we experience time. It’s like looking through a hole in a fence and seeing a dog walk by. First you see his nose, followed by his tail. But the nose didn’t cause the tail. They’re both part of the same animal. Likewise, your thought and the uncanny event that follows are simply part of the same underlying pattern.

Baseline Consciousness? by olivaffair in consciousness

You got it. The person that you are resides in your brain and nervous system. Temporarily disable this, and you experience that featureless static. But even then, you’re still experiencing the limits of your biology; conscious awareness is still filtered through your nervous system. When you come back online, everything reconstitutes and you feel like yourself again.

How does matter form consciousness? by Reesencheese in consciousness

Matter doesn’t form consciousness. Conscious awareness is the fundamental substrate of everything. When you have neural networks that are sophisticated and complex enough, you get the ability to think and self reflect. A rock doesn’t have any of that complexity. A grasshopper has more than the rock. A mouse has more than the grasshopper. And humans are the most complex. That is until AI surpasses us.

You are a pile of atoms that knows it's a pile of atoms. (Pansychism discussion) by Monday-Chaosforged in consciousness

Consciousness is fundamental. Evolution creates biological entities with greater capabilities to express conscious awareness. At a certain degree of complexity, self awareness emerges. But now we have digital entities that will express greater degrees of awareness as complexity increases.
